“What happened, Aurora?” Jacques shouted the moment he barged in the office room.
“Si Kuya?” tanong ko rin.
“Nasa labas. Nililigpit ang mga bangkay.” Lumapit siya sa akin. “Anong nangyari?”
“That... thing attacked those two victims,” panimula ko. “I killed it, but there was something watching me, too. It got away before I even saw it.”
“You saw it?”
Tumango ako. “I saw it killing a human.”
Suminghap siya sabay mariing pikit ng mata. “Was it a vampire?”
I tried to recall the incident earlier. I was so sure that it was a vampire. The pale skin... the fangs... the sucking of blood... When you witness these three, you'll know that the creature was indeed a vampire.
But there's something weird about the whole ordeal...
“It could be a vampire, Jack...” I trailed off.
“I can hear a but. What is it?”
“Maliban sa itim nitong mata imbes na pula, it sucked the human's blood but it didn't swallow it...” Bakit niya niluwa?
Vampires are known to be in their best shape when they have blood. They drink blood as food and for strength.
“Jack, the creature was thin and all bones. If it is a vampire, it needed blood to have strength... but with what happened earlier, it was thin and all bones but it moved healthy. Maliksi, mabilis, at magaan ang bawat kilos.”
“You said the creature was thin and all bones.
Yes. I make more sense than him right now, but we can't ignore any possibilities that they can and can't be a vampire.
I frowned at him.
“I'm insulted, Jacques,” I said.
“You shouldn't be. I know you, and I know you're saying this based on what you believe can be true. We'll take this into consideration, Aurora. Now, what do we do next?”
