Yun Bei Fen happily went back to practicing. This time, he could only use one hand though, still cradling Xiao Hui in the other. It sure didn't help with making his attacks look any better.
Mei Chao Bing smiled but didn't say anything. Instead, he led Song Mu and Da Hei over to the Elder's room and knocked on the door.
After hearing why they had come, Elder Baili naturally didn't hesitate to look through his own spatial bag and take out everything that could be used. Compared to the disciples, his pockets could naturally be considered to be deeper. After all, he had had a long time to accumulate these and the sect also allocated more to the Elders. With four disciples, two of which were at a lower level, he naturally carried quite a few pills and potions with him.
"This is all I have. Chances are, Elder Xing will also have a few more resources so you should first go and find him. He went to check up on the younger disciples a while ago so he might still be there."
Mei Chao Bing nodded. "We will do that. Thank you, Elder."
The three of them left the room again and he glanced at Yun Bei Fen one last time before also leaving the courtyard. Since Elder Baili had already suggested it, they didn't ask the other disciples yet and instead went to look for Elder Xing first. Soon, they found him with one of the patrol groups that had just returned from outside. None of the expressions of the people that had gathered looked good.
Mei Chao Bing furrowed his brows, feeling that the disciples shouldn't have brought back good news. No, most likely, something bad had happened. He hesitated for a moment but then walked up to Elder Xing's side, greeting him before falling silent and waiting at the side. If there was something currently going on, then he should let the Elder deal with that first.
Elder Xing nodded at him and then sighed, waving for Mei Chao Bing and the other two to step closer. His gaze rested on Da Hei for a moment but he had already seen him in this form once before so after thinking, he remembered just who this person dressed in a dark robe was. "The disciples that just returned from patrol found traces outside the town. Most likely, the disciples of the demonic side have come close to investigate. This isn't a good sign."
Mei Chao Bing nodded. "It likely means their final move is close but we did already suspect that."
Elder Xing sighed again. "Indeed. I am afraid we'll have to act immediately. The common people need to be evacuated in case they attack here and we might need to strengthen our patrols. Otherwise, I'm afraid they'll be much too aware of our situation here."
Mei Chao Bing didn't say anything in response. It might already be too late to do these things now. So far, it had always seemed like the other side knew fairly well about their moves. Otherwise, how had Qu Yijun known to stake an ambush when senior martial brother Shen and the others were escorting Yang Wu Huang and his friends back to the Teng Yong sect? Or how had they known when they were investigating that underground palace?
Clearly, the other side didn't lack information about their situation. So whatever those traces were, he didn't think they needed to be more worried than before because of them. Nothing had changed. They were still in the same conundrum as before where the other side knew much more about them than they knew about the other side.
He hesitated for a moment but finally couldn't help but speak up. "Evacuating the common people is a must. This should also help with ensuring they can't spy on us too much. With fewer people around, it's easier to spot them."
Yes, even though you could tell a cultivator with your spiritual sense, this could also be prevented as long as the person prepared well and either used certain pills or items to conceal their level. Then, you needed a certain level yourself to see through this deceit. The Elders and some of the older disciples could probably do it but for the younger disciples, this would be impossible. Thus, in a town where they weren't familiar with everyone, they could easily overlook a disciple of the demonic sects who sneaked in.
Elder Xing nodded. "I'll gather some disciples to take care of this. Right, what was it the three of you wanted?" He raised his brows, once again glancing at Da Hei. The last time this person appeared, he had provided some insight. Maybe this time, he would once again give him a surprise.
Contrary to what the Elder hoped, Da Hei stayed silent and just left Mei Chao Bing to take the lead while he hung back. Anyway, he was just helping out. Mei Chao Bing was much more familiar with the Elders and the other disciples so it was better for him to take care of this. In fact, he was wondering if he should turn back. He didn't like how those little disciples were looking at him.
Mei Chao Bing didn't expect him to speak up either and instead explained to Elder Xing himself. "So, we have already gathered quite a few resources but I'm afraid it won't be enough. Does Elder Xing have any to spare?"
Elder Xing naturally nodded and looked through his spatial bag. Anyway, they didn't even know if they would survive the next days or weeks. Why would he hold onto a few pills and potions? If this could get them any closer to a solution, it would be for the best. And even if it couldn't provide an answer to Mei Chao Bing's question, it could at least allow him to raise his cultivation a bit. At this point in time, that was also of great benefit to them.
