Mei Chao Bing felt surprised but yes, he could naturally also see that what Song Mu said was the truth. The benefit of transferring this energy to Da Hei was slightly higher. Whether it would actually make a difference in their fight against the demonic faction was questionable but they probably couldn't let go of even this small chance.

He finally nodded and turned to look at Da Hei. "This also means it might be more dangerous for you. Are you sure you are willing?"

Da Hei shrugged. "What am I following you for if not for the benefits?" Anyway, this was an almost cheaply gained opportunity for him to finally raise his level by a sizable amount. He would be an idiot not to do it.

Mei Chao Bing nodded and then started to draw an array around him. "Well, let's finish our preparations then."

The other two nodded as well and got back to work. Soon, several layers of arrays were spread out, ensuring that even if an accident happened, not too much energy would escape in the direction of the town and injure the people there.

When everything was done, Song Mu took up the spot they had discussed before while Da Hei returned to the middle of the array where Mei Chao Bing had taken up a seat. Sitting down in front of him, he raised his brows. "What do you need me to do?"

Mei Chao Bing hesitated but then shook his head. "This should be up to me. I will try to take in all the energy, keep it in my body for a moment, and then release it for you." He thought for a moment and then stretched out his hands. "Well, when the time comes, it would be best to grab my hands. I might have to release the energy from both sides and this should make it the easiest."

Da Hei inclined his head and then simply waited. For now, there was nothing he could do.

Meanwhile, Mei Chao Bing took out all the resources they had gathered and looked at them with a solemn expression. One attempt. There would only be this one attempt so he couldn't allow for any mistakes. He either found out more information now or he wouldn't find out at all until he stood in front of his Master.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened his eyes again, determination was written in his gaze. He picked up the pills first, starting with those that had the lowest level. He swallowed each of them with the help of one of the low-level potions instead of water and then simply went on to take the rest. He didn't take even a moment's break in between, simply continuing to take one pill and one potion right after the other.

The energy in the resources was released into his body immediately. At first, it was hardly noticeable. These were pills of the lowest level, after all, some of them only meant for disciples in the qi condensation stage. As a cultivator at the nascent soul stage, they naturally didn't have much of an effect on him. As he continued to swallow them, things changed though. For one, the items he took later were of a higher level, and two, as long as you combined enough resources, even the lowest level of pills could fill up an ocean of energy.

At this point, Mei Chao Bing started to feel uncomfortable. The human body truly wasn't designed to be filled with energy in this way. Usually in cultivation, it was always recommended to go steady. Rushing would lead to an unstable realm in the best case or to a qi deviation in the worst case. Nobody would be so crazy to take pill after pill unless they were in a life-or-death situation.

Mei Chao Bing's lips twitched but he still continued to pour the last potions into his mouth as if he didn't realize the kind of result this could have. Anyway, it was too late to stop now. From the moment he began or maybe even the moment he realized that he was at the center of his Master's plan, it had been impossible to give up.

The last vial was put aside and Mei Chao Bing closed his eyes once more. The remaining energy was mobilized, filling his meridians to the brim. He gritted his teeth, trying to focus on all of the energy at once to see if there were any changes. The pain made it difficult to sense anything else but he got used to it after a moment. Observing the energy now, it seemed as if ... everything was the same?

Mei Chao Bing's eyelids twitched. Please don't tell him that all of this had been for naught. It wouldn't be too much of a waste resource-wise as long as Da Hei could indeed help out later but ... there wouldn't be much benefit in terms of figuring out a plan to counteract his Master's certainly devilish ambitions.

Da Hei watched his expression and finally spoke up at that point, his voice containing some reproach. "Focus on the energy. Don't think about all those messy things."

Mei Chao Bing jolted but then indeed stopped thinking of the rest. He simply focused on his body again, looking past the pain and at the energy instead. Where was his so-called constitution? When would it become active? Was this really not enough to do so?

He continued to wait, feeling that there had to be some way to get this to work. Was it the amount of energy? The time it stayed in his body? Maybe it would change if he moved it? Well, since the two previous points seemed doubtful, he finally tried to circle the energy once. Hopefully, this would work. Otherwise, he really didn't know how else to continue.
