Feng Bai Xiao thought for a moment and finally transmitted his wishes directly to Mu Qing by way of his spiritual energy.
The other person froze when his Master's voice sounded in his head. He had been trying to think of more ways to help Zhi Guan and Liu Bao Ru to prepare for the upcoming battle. Now, he was suddenly interrupted by his Master. Even though he was sure that the voice had been transmitted through spiritual energy, he still looked over his shoulder and only heaved a sigh of relief when he didn't see him. Well, his Master had said to take the group of Song Yu Zheng to the main hall so that might be where he was.
Mu Qing immediately left his own room and went to the one where the four disciples were staying. His gaze brushed over Zhi Guan but with the others around, he couldn't discuss with him and could only give a general warning by explaining to everyone what was going on. "My Master contacted me and told me to bring you to the main hall. I don't know the reason but you should hurry."
Zhi Guan's brows furrowed faintly. He knew Mu Qing's Master and was also aware of his current strength thanks to everything Mu Qing had told them. If the person himself was there ... the flimsy get-up covering his face to obscure his identity couldn't stand his scrutiny. Feng Bai Xiao would know at once.
He gulped but there was nothing he could do. He silently followed Song Yu Zheng and the other two out of the room when Mu Qing turned around to lead the way. Maybe he could run off but then, he'd expose himself in front of the others and would put Liu Bao Ru in danger as well. If he didn't though and Feng Bai Xiao recognized him ... maybe she'd at least have some time to get away or maybe Mu Qing could do something.
Zhi Guan glanced at Mu Qing's back when he thought of this and he shook his head at himself. No, this wasn't right. If Feng Bai Xiao recognized him, he'd surely figure out that Mu Qing had done the same and had betrayed them. Then at that point, Liu Bao Ru would still be exposed. Most likely, all three of them would be killed on the spot.
Mu Qing was thinking about the very same thing. He didn't know what to do though. His Master was already here and it wasn't easy to get anything past him. Could he still send Zhi Guan away? But then, how would he explain that to the others?
He narrowed his eyes and finally stopped, turning around to look at Zhi Guan. "Right ... where is your sister?"
Zhi Guan gave him a look and motioned in the other direction. "Probably still in her room and practicing by herself."
"You should go and get her then."
Zhi Guan inclined his head and turned around at once. His whole body was tense and he listened intently to any sounds coming from behind. The situation was odd and with Song Yu Zheng's talent, he might realize that something was off.
The demonic practitioner indeed felt that something wasn't right. "Senior martial brother Mu, did Elder Feng ask you to bring her over as well?" It didn't seem right. For one, he couldn't imagine any reason why the Elder would do that, and two, why wouldn't Mu Qing say so immediately when he got them?
Mu Qing shook his head. "It seemed like this might take a while so it's better to bring her. Let's go ahead. They'll catch up soon." Anyway, he just needed to give Zhi Guan some time to grab Liu Bao Ru and get away. He knew it might not change anything but it was better to try than to let this go ahead. After all, he had no doubt about what his Master would do if he recognized Zhi Guan.
Song Yu Zheng followed but gave him a doubtful look. After a moment, he glanced at the other two, wondering if they had any ideas. Could it be that their plan had worked so well that senior martial brother Mu wanted to introduce her to his Master? That would certainly be for the best but ... it had only been a day, hadn't it? Even though he still felt confident that their idea was a good one, he didn't think it'd go that fast.
Lu Wei and Wen Xiang could only shrug their shoulders, not knowing what to make of this either. Considering that Mu Qing was right in front of them, they couldn't discuss it for the time being and would have to wait until later.
Meanwhile, Zhi Guan walked down the corridor again and then rushed over to the room where Liu Bao Ru was staying. He didn't even bother to knock and directly stepped into the room, tightly closing the door behind him. "Feng Bai Xiao is in the underground palace. He specifically told Mu Qing to bring the people in our room to the main hall. I am not sure if this means he has discovered my presence here or if it is just a coincidence but things might not be safe going forward."
Liu Bao Ru had been practicing the little bit of sword arts from the Yu She Sect that she had learned before to make sure she could make her identity just slightly more believable. Hearing Zhi Guan's words, she lowered her sword, her brows furrowing. "If he knows about you, chances are he knows about me as well. What should we do? Stay and fight or ..." She trailed off, not even sure if there was another option. Sure, they could run for now, but then what?
Zhi Guan shook his head. "I don't know either. Mu Qing had no further instructions apart from bringing us over. It could be anything."
Liu Bao Ru hesitated and finally put away the sword from the Yu She Sect, instead taking out her own weapon. "Let's fight? Anyway, we'll have to do so sooner or later. The three people in your room are the strongest of the bunch here and they are currently all in the same room. We could try to ambush the patrol that is currently out and then take down the next one if we aren't discovered before that. It's better than nothing."
Zhi Guan kept quiet for a moment but finally nodded. "That might be for the best." Anyway, if their presence had indeed been detected, they couldn't escape. And if it hadn't been ... then with Feng Bai Xiao's being here, it was only a question of time until that would happen. They might as well take advantage of the little time they had left and take a few people down with them.
