Fa Ai Jun first recounted what her disciples had found, not keeping any details back. The Teng Yong Sect had also told them about everything they had found back then so it only seemed right to reciprocate. Also, Ximen Chang needed to be in the loop as well and she had only given him a very rough version earlier.
Shen Lei and Luo Lin listened quietly, not even interrupting once. When the Elder finished, Luo Lin took over and told them about their side of the matters in the border region. "That is to say we only know this much for sure right now. My first senior martial brother went back to investigate further but we couldn't wait until his return to inform you as we can't be sure when exactly this plan will be set into motion. If we wait, it could be too late at that time."
Elder Fa and Elder Ximen both nodded, their expressions grave. None of this was good news. The underground hall wasn't, the scope of the other side's plan wasn't, and the fast-approaching deadline definitely wasn't either. They kept silent for a while, both thinking the matter through and trying to find the best way to go about it.
Finally, Ximen Chang turned to Fa Ai Jun and spoke up first. "If what his senior martial brother found out first is true, then everyone will need to work together to stand even the slightest chance."
Fa Ai Jun gave a hum but her expression still showed concern. "I agree there but ... will the others? In fact, will there be enough time to inform them? If we are left with literal days, that might not be enough to send a message, wait for their decision, come together, and discuss everything before setting out to counter the other side's actions."
"I'm afraid so. But what choice do we have?"
Fa Ai Jun pursed her lips. There indeed was no choice. None of the sects could face this alone. They had to get together and they had to do so fast but the time might not be enough. As many people as possible would have to hurry to stop the demonic faction but they'd need to send a bigger team to the other two sects so the disciples would stay safe. This would cut down on their fighting power. It really wasn't a good situation.
She furrowed her brows and then looked at Luo Lin and Shen Lei questioningly. "No teams were sent to the other sects?"
Luo Lin shook his head. "No, just the two of us."
Shen Lei glanced at his fiance and then explained further. "We were afraid that we wouldn't be believed without any proof. The last time we sent information, the other sects didn't react all that well and showed a lot of distrust. We only felt comfortable with the Zhen Yan Sect because junior martial brother Mei is more familiar with Elder Fa."
Fa Ai Jun raised her brows. "You're close to him?" She did know Shen Lei but wasn't even sure which Elder's disciple he was so she naturally didn't know either how he was connected with Mei Chao Bing. Frankly, it didn't matter but she had always paid more attention to that little ice cube from the moment she met him and realized how pitiful he was. Seeing that he might have a few friends who were still on his side really made her feel gratified.
Shen Lei inclined his head. "His fiance is Ah Lin's little junior."
Elder Fa's brows rose. She had met Yun Bei Fen before so she naturally knew who Shen Lei was talking about. Looking at Luo Lin ... she couldn't help but wonder if Elder Baili chose his disciples based on their looks. How come two of them were stunning beauties?
Ximen Chang faintly cleared his throat, not wanting her to get carried away. "Either way, we indeed believe you. You are right to be worried about the others though. There is no guarantee which is precisely what worries me. We will need all the people we can get."
"Then just send a paper crane?" Fa Ai Jun could only offer this suggestion. Unless they wanted to send a few disciples over, a paper crane was their only method of sending the message. This did pose a big risk though. After all, if the demonic practitioners intercepted the message halfway, the others wouldn't be informed and they would never receive reinforcements without even knowing why. Could they really take such a risk?
Luo Lin saw the two Elders hesitate and gently squeezed his lover's hand. The two of them could get there and back again in no time. This couldn't be exposed, maybe not even in front of Elder Fa, but definitely not in front of Elder Ximen. Still, the situation was urgent and they could indeed use all the help possible. So ... shouldn't they do something?
Shen Lei could naturally guess what Luo Lin meant. His mind churned and he finally cleared his throat. "That ... there might be a way to get the best of both worlds."
The two Elders looked up at him questioningly."
Shen Lei reached up and put his hand on Luo Lin's shoulder, trying to look natural. "Well, speaking of Ah Lin's martial brothers, you might have heard of his second senior martial brother, Yan Hong Min. He is known for creating all kinds of spiritual tools. Some of these are really helpful and have played a vital role in our Teng Yong Sect's confrontation of the demonic faction."
Fa Ai Jun nodded. She had indeed heard about him. "Is there one that could help us with delivering a message undetected?"
Shen Lei nodded and continued to lie with his eyes wide open. "Yes, although it is a prototype that hasn't been tested thoroughly yet. I am afraid it can only be used by me and Ah Lin as well. We could make use of it to inform the other sects if Elder Fa can give us something as proof of the Zhen Yan Sect's findings."
