Further to the south, Luo Lin and Shen Lei stopped again, the latter drawing a heart-shaped window on the side of the small dreamscape and picking his lover up by the waist to let him look outside. "So, what do you see?" Even though matters were serious and they couldn't really waste time, right now, his gaze still softened as he looked at the way Luo Lin's hair hang down over his shoulder, only exposing part of his cheek.
He truly couldn't help himself. Not too long ago, he had thought everything would be over. Then, after waking up, he was not only healed but even connected to the one he loved in such a special way. He hadn't thought too much before when they experimented, but right now, being in this small space together for so long, he realized just how special it really was. In the future, it seemed like there would be no limits to their relationship. How could he not indulge a bit?
Luo Lin rubbed his lover's hand but still seriously surveyed the surroundings outside. "It seems we're quite close. I can see a hill that looks as if it might be the camp of the Zhen Yan Sect."
Shen Lei hummed and set Luo Lin down again, pulling him around. "Then let's go. When we reach the place, we need to be careful. We can't expose your ability."
Luo Lin nodded. "Then we should find cover and leave the dreamscape a little earlier."
Shen Lei hummed but his brows furrowed slightly. "There won't be much in terms of cover around here and they are also located on the top of that hill."
Luo Lin leaned against him and pursed his lips. This was indeed an issue. But what were they supposed to do? "We could wait until night falls and step out then. Even if it looks like we walked out of thin air, they might think their eyes were playing tricks on them. As long as we don't vanish the same way, it should be alright."
"True. I suppose we got here fast enough that it won't make much of a difference to wait a little longer either."
Luo Lin reached up and wrapped his arms around his lover's neck. "I don't see another way anyway. Unless we appear right in the Elder's tent. But then, she might attack us if she doesn't recognize us."
Shen Lei laughed. "Well, if that were to happen, I would definitely protect you." He leaned down, kissing Luo Lin on the lips before humming faintly. "Do you want to risk it?"
"I suppose that would have the benefit that the Zheng Yan Sect could prepare earlier and make their way back to our camp tomorrow morning at the very latest. Since we don't know how long we really have before the final battle, this might be for the best."
Shen Lei nodded. "I suppose so. Can you accurately find the tent though without needing to check along the way? If we appear in front of somebody else ..."
They had tested the dreamscape along the way, realizing that it was indeed rather limited. Contrary to Blue Butterfly, Luo Lin couldn't influence the dreamscape much. In fact, even the place itself could only stay as a regular room without any decoration. He was able to create all kinds of openings with different sizes and shapes and use it to move around but that was about it. And the moving around part truly wasn't that convenient. Or maybe they just hadn't made sense of it yet.
Blue Butterfly had seemed to like traveling with her dreamscape but to the two of them, it felt more like a fever dream than the leisurely journey they had had in mind. Unless they kept a window open and risked being seen, they never knew where they were.
Sometimes, they only took two or three steps and suddenly found themselves somewhere else completely. They weren't even always traveling in the right direction. It truly wouldn't be wrong to say that they had only needed this long to find the camp of the Zhen Yan Sect because they had no idea where they were going at all. In short, trying to find Elder Fa's tent might be more difficult than they could afford.
Luo Lin narrowed his eyes. To be honest, he also had some doubts but ... "We have to try. Not because of the time but because we will need this ability in the final battle. At that time, we need to be able to step in, move, and step out where we want to be without issue. We can't be held back by not understanding this thing.
"By now, we have already managed to figure out some parts but we're not far enough yet. There just wasn't enough time to gather the experience senior Blue Butterfly has. I'd say we should see this as an opportunity. Even if we are caught, then so be it. They are still our allies so they won't directly kill us. At most, we'll get in trouble after the battle is over. But by then, who knows who will even be alive?"
Shen Lei nodded. "I suppose you're right." Yes, it wasn't even clear if the two of them could make it. The same was naturally true for the disciples of the Zhen Yan Sect. Not to mention that they might also be able to do this without getting caught. He shouldn't be too pessimistic. And anyway, this might be the last chance they'd get to explore this ability. They indeed couldn't waste it.
He let go of Luo Lin's waist and instead held his hand. "Well, let's go then. Let's find Elder Fa's tent! I bet we can make it in less than five tries. If I'm right, you have to give me a kiss."
Luo Lin laughed. "Then what if you lose?"
"Then I'll kiss you. Anyway, I won't lose out." He leaned over and pecked his lover's cheek before motioning ahead or whatever the wall in front of them currently faced.
