Chapter 38: Emergency!

Alex's POV:

Me and Reggie heard the whole thing! We might have jumped for joy hearing some stuff but hey. After we had eavesdropped plenty we poofed back to the studio to see Luke staring off into space. We told him everything we heard. From Y/n rejecting Jaden to what she was saying about 'this Luke think isn't going away.' When we finished Luke had this look that made you want to laugh out loud. He was smiling ear to ear.

Sudden his face darkened and sadness overtook him. "Hey whats wrong" I said nudging his shoulder. "I'm just gonna hurt her" he looked about ready to cry. "Hey man no your not" Reggie nodded in agreement. "Could you guys have heard wrong?" Luke asked. Me and Reggie exchanged looks. "There was a lot of noise and other people talking and we were far away so yes probably" Reggie said. I nodded and Luke looked better not like he had when he first found out the 'news' that now probably didn't even exist.

Y/n's POV:

The whole day I was waiting for it to end to make a song. But during the day I thought of an even better idea. After school my grandparents had told me that I could hang out at Julie's house so me her and Flynn walked to her house together. On the way I told them my idea. Me and Flynn had already told Julie what happened earlier that day at lunch so no need to explain it again.

"So all day I have been thinking about it and I think I have the perfect plan. I steal 'Unsaid Emily' go to Luke's parents house and show them the song!" Julie and Flynn agreed that it was an insane gamble for my life. But didn't say it was a bad idea. When we reached Julie's house the guys were in the studio. Luke was lying on the couch sprawled all the way across leaving no space. Alex and Reggie were sitting on chairs Reggie messing with his bass and Alex's playing a drum beat on his legs.

I threw my back pack on Luke's legs and pushed them off the couch. Flynn was smiling even though she couldn't see them she felt like she could. Luke threw a pen at me where he found it I have no clue. I sat down as he was moving his legs back on the couch. This time he pulled his legs up before I could sit on them and he sat up. I got out my homework and started working as Luke rested his arm across my shoulders and put his head on my shoulder. I thought he was trying f to go to sleep but he was just watching me write my essay I kind of liked it.

Somehow having Luke watch me made it go by really fast. Julie and Flynn had taken out their own homework and had started working by now. Luke would sometimes stare at me for a while then look away a pained expression on his face. When he did this Alex and Reggie looked so distraught it hurt me. "Everything ok?" I asked making Flynn look around. Julie nodded she had noticed it too.

"Fine" Luke said putting on a smile and leaning on me. Alex and Reggie nodded in their agreement. I frowned I knew what Luke's smile looked like. The smile he wore just now was a fake, a phony, a fraud. I put my finished homework in my back pack and got out my phone. I started looking through it. I saw a text from my grandpa. (princess I know that you are at Julie's but I just wanted to see if you could get Ray to drive you to the hospital I will explain when you get here try not to panic.)

Don't panic! This fool wanted me to not panic. I jumped off the couch grabbed my back pack with out a word to anyone ran through the door. Everyone right behind worried. "RAY!' I yelled as I walked into the kitchen. "Y/n whats the matter?" Ray asked worriedly looking at my state of panic. "My. . . Hospital- something" I couldn't form words I started to feel sick I was about to fall when Luke pushed me up.

"Y/n honey calm down what happened?" He asked calmly. "I-I think something happened to my. . . my g-grandma" I told him the text and he immediately grabbed his coat. Carlos was ready in a second and Julie had a reassuring hand on my back. The guys had all huddled behind me comforting me through just being there.

We loaded up into Ray's truck. Luke, Alex, and Reggie sitting in the back squished trying not to get near Carlos. We arrived a couple minutes later. I practically sprinted through the doors the Molina's and the guys right behind. I was in the waiting room and I saw my grandpa sitting there. Shaking his leg like how he does when he's nervous or anxious.

"GRANDPA!"I yelled running over and tackling him with a hug. "What. . . What happened?" I asked eagerly sitting down next to him the others sitting in chairs to. "Honey" he looked down at his hands not sure what to say. "Your. . . Your grandmother has been ill for quite some time" I was about to yell at him for not telling me but he put his hand up to stop me so I closed my mouth.

"We didn't tell you because finally your life seemed to finally be brightening up. You had always had Flynn and the Molina's but you just weren't you with them gone. Finallu yly started music again even joining a band. You started seeming like you again. It was your grandmother's decision to make and I agreed with her on not telling you." He stopped talking everyone sitting around had their mouths open.

Tears poured down my face. My grandpa took me in his arms. "What. . . What does she have?" I asked through sniffles. His eyes saddened. He looked down and rubbed the tears off my cheek with his thumb. ". . . Cancer my princess" my world felt dizzy. I looked over and Julie came and hugged me Ray and Carlos got up and comforted me. Luke looked like he wanted to and Alex and Reggie were balling. Lukenhad silent tears.

After another hour me and my grandpa told the Molina's they should go home. I promised I would text Julie how things went. And then they left. Luke stayed behind sitting next to me. He put his hand in mine and I fell asleep. Oh boy what a night.
