"Do you need anything, princess?" Alaric asked as he popped his head through the crack of our bedroom door.

I shook my head and he growled quietly.

"Use your words, Kirabo. What's the use of your voice if you don't use it?"

I rolled my eyes at, "No Alaric, I'm fine."

I kept my tone level and ironic which he clearly didn't like from the way his eyes narrowed. I smiled innocently and pulled the comforter over me.

It was the last day of my heat cycle. I suffered through 5 long days of unbearable pain but every step of the way Alaric took care of me and I know it's been hard for him.

I had no idea that my heat would make him want me in ways I wasn't ready to give myself yet. On the third day, he outright refused to sleep in the same room as me because his wolf made his hands wonder where they shouldn't have.

And he kept me locked in here because other unmated wolves would have tried to mate me. I shuddered at the thought. Alaric would have probably killed them all.

"I'm going to be in my office for the next few hours," he announced, "Call me if you need anything."

"Okay," I mumbled back.

Dejection sat in the pit of my stomach. We've been spending so much time together lately that I almost forgot he was still the Alpha of this pack.

Jessabelle and Breena were doing most of the work along with Jordan while he took time off to care for me. Now I was gonna be all alone in this huge ass apartment.

"Don't be like that princess," he growled, "I'll be home before you know it and I can send the girls over. Would you like that?"

"Yeah, I just don't want to be alone," I sighed.

He nodded, "Okay, I will send them as soon as their finished with their duties."
His head then disappeared and the bedroom door closed.

What on earth do I do now? Exhaustion suddenly washed over me and I yawned. Maybe I should take a nap. Jessabelle has keys to the apartment anyway.

I closed my eyes and drifted off.

I sneezed into my elbow before letting out a groan. Why did I have to catch a cold? Werewolves aren't supposed to catch colds.

Unless you're an omega, the voice in my head taunted, which you are.

I frowned to myself. Was my internal voice just mocking me?

"You really need to pull yourself together, Kiki," Zack growled from the driver seat of his car, "I need you training again as soon as possible."
