Summer Lovin'

I woke up with the sun beaming down on me, too tied to close my curtains last night. It was early ish, and I could seriously lay in my bed forever. But of course I didn't.

I checked my phone to see a message from kie.

-come over, everyone's here

-okay be right over

I responded.

I got up out of bed still not ready to face my dad. I put on a black swimsuit and a pair of dark washed Jean shorts and I grabbed a black t shirt to hold onto just in case. I put my hair into two braids and luckily for me all my jewelry was still on from the previous night.

I walk into my bathroom to put on some light mascara. I could hear my dad in the kitchen before I walked in, but I didn't say good morning I just opened a cupboard to take out some cereal, then a bowl and a spoon.

I stood at the island in our kitchen and ate most of it.

"Where do you think your going?" He asks me as I eat my cereal.

"Please let me go to John bs" I practically beg "he needs me right now" I say

"Why is it what John b always needs you?" He asks skeptically. I didn't really know what to say because I I was creating a lie.

"It's just, things haven't been great for him lately, you know with his dad in all. I think it's finally starting to hit him" I say flat out lying my to dad trying to guilt trip him. And I decided to take it a step further, "he just needs me because I've been through this" I say with sad eyes.

He looked at me for a second. "Okay" he let out "you can go"

"Really?" I asked calmly not wanting to seem to excited "really" he nodded

I could feel a smile growing on my face. "Thanks dad, I'm be home tonight, I promise" say almost running out the door.

I begin walking over to the chateau carrying a small backpack on my back. As I get closer I can see pope kie John b and JJ all outside sitting around a table.

"What took you so long?" Kie asked as I got closer to them. "My dads pissed at me because I got home so late" I say annoyed. "It's weird it's like all of the sudden he's so freaked out at me for hanging out with you guys"

"Yeah that is weird, he's always been chill with you going out" JJ says adding to the conversation

"I know" I say casually thinking that maybe things between JJ and I won't be weird. And honestly I didn't want to be mad at JJs stupidity so I just brush off my feelings from the pervious night, accepting that he wasn't the smartest in the group.

And then it was back to silence as I took a seat. Kie played the bongos lightly, as John b interrupted the quiet rhythm.

"Look I'm calling it off, all right. Peterkin said if I stay out of the marsh she'll help me with DCS"

"And you believed her" JJ but in

"Yes i believe her JJ" John b says defensively

"An actual cop John b, you believed a cop" JJ said

"All I gotta do is stay out of the marsh for a couple of days, and she'll help me out." John b says convincing me that staying away from the marsh was a smart idea

"It doesn't help that your ass was the one shooting a gun" john b continued sounding more angry

"You know what I should have done! Just let topper drown your ass" JJ fights back making me roll my eyes at their childishness

"Yeah because topper was gonna drown me?" John b said not believing it "sure looked like it" JJ said
"Funny" John b said
"I mean have you looked in the mirror?" JJ asked standing up and walking closer to John b

"Tell me some more. Come on" John b said egging him on

"They always win, don't they man? Kooks vs pogues they always, alway win." JJ continued

"Goddamn" JJ said angrily and punching a buoy that was hung up with rope across the wood that was holding a roof over us. His actions made me jump slightly

"Look, it's okay" kie says loudly trying to calm him down

"No, it's not okay!" JJ shouts back keeping pope and I silent "it's not, they don't want us to go down to the marsh. That's means there's something valuable down there, and you know it." JJ continues to fight back

"I know you do" JJ says specifically talking to John b now.

"And I understand why you don't wanna go." He says looking to pope "your the golden boy, you got way to much to lose"

"And Hannah, you already have all you need here why got out looking for more?" he says looking me in the eyes

"And you, I mean your already rich as fuck anyway, why would you bother" he says to kie clearly making her upset.

"But you and me man, we got nothin to lose! We really don't" JJ continues now talking to John b

"JJ" John b said getting a little fed up

"And I know it didn't used to be that way for you" JJ adds referring to John bs dad who had recently vanished

"I don't wanna talk about this, I don't want to talk about it." John b says getting a little defensive

"So that's it?" JJ asks as John b starts to walk past him

"Just get out of my way, bro" John b says clearly getting angry, and pushing JJ aside.

"John b listen to me I have a plan" JJ says as me pope and kie watch John b walk towards the chateau glancing at each other

John b paused and JJ caught up to him. "You got the key to big Cameron's boat right?" 

"No JJ" John b groaned having an idea of what this plan might be

"There's scuba gear, we just borrow that and then we go down to the wreck this afternoon, and that is what's gonna save you man" JJ said putting his arm over John b as he continued "you don't see rich kids going into foster care do you?" JJ asked seeming as though that had gotten through to him somehow.
