Dancing with the devil

A night to remember

I make my way down to the hall, my white heels clicking off the concrete stairs as I grow more and more anxious, I almost forgot how different I looked before I fell. Lesso is the only one who knows of my history. 

I reach the end of the stairs, making my way across the passage and towards the door to the hall, I take a few deep breaths to steady myself before I walk in...

*Lesso's POV*

We had all arrived early, Dovey in her shining gold dress with a crown and everything, Helios was in a suit with golden details, I was in a velvet version of my black suit but with feathers on the cuffs. We were all just waiting on Ignes to appear, when she lights the candles then we can get this ball over with. 

I heard the door open but I didn't turn around, I was focused on the work I had done on the night sky ceiling. I could hear Helios gasp followed by Dovy gasping before speaking. ''Ignes- I... you look like an angel'' Which instantly caught my attention. I turned around after hearing her giggle. 

This is the first and last time you will ever hear me say this but Dovey was right. Ignes looked like a little white dove, all glittering in white and silver like some kind of dream. 

*Your POV*

I heard Dovey and Helios gasp as they turned to look at me, I then say Lesso turn around and her face lit up, I guess she has a soft spot for angels, fallen or not... ''Thank you Dovey, you look amazing! you all look amazing'' I say shooting a little wink in Lessos direction which caused  little blush to appear on her face. 

I walk over to the tables and one by one I begin to light the candles, watching the golden flames dance around the staff before finding the candle, lightly waving in the air which illuminated their faces, a soft glow of golden light. I had a slight fun idea as I moved my hand to make the glow of the flames appear in Lessos hair causing it to take on the colour shift of a flame. 

''It suits you Lady Lesso, the flames like you'' I say focusing on creating magical hair on the dean. She looks beautiful but we can't really do anthing yet, I haven't even kissed her, god knows how much she could suffer if she does. ''Dovey that is all the candles lit, shall we take that photo now then welcome the students?'' I say while trying to take my mind off the redhead. 

''Oh of corse the photo! right everyone squeeze in!'' Dovey runs up to the camera again and clicks the timer before running back to us all, in the same positions as the before photo, and yet again Lesso is in my ear ''You look so incredible I can't begin to say''- ''Then don't speak, you have me here all night and your glances and reaction to me speaks more than your words, Leo'' I say as Dovey counts down. 

I suddenly felt a hand rest on my waist ''3!'' 

''So... Leo? what is with that nickname?'' 

''Well you are Leonora, plus it is easy to say and... cute''

''2!'' 

''So you think I am cute? tell me that later on, Lily''

''Lilly? you are the only person that can call me that'' 

''1'' 

''I know, I like that'' 

The camera clicked and the photo was taken, this time instead of smiles we both had bright red faces from blushing. 

''Aww we look so great! Guards, open the doors and lets welcome the students!'' Dovey shouts as the guards open the doors and about 100 students in black and white scale clothes walk in. 

We all take our places at the main stage ready to introduce the ball to the students, they all look really lovely, the black and white theme was worth it. They all wander into the hall, gasping at our incredible decorations. 

''Welcome all to the union ball, I hope you will all enjoy the food and drink available at the stand where professor Helios is stood, I can see you are all impressed with the room, we have all put our talents to the test to create this. Special thanks to Lady Lesso and Dean Ignes for their input too, without further ado I announce that the union ball shall commence!'' Dovey clapped her hands in excitement as the students found their way around the room, admiring our hard work. 

Both myself and Lesso stood at the side of the hall to monitor the students, my main worry was about the nevers poisoning the evers, Lesso thought it was funny. 

The night went very well, the music was good, the atmosphere was a little in the air but was thankfully quite relaxing. As the night went on myself and Lesso got talking about the new teaching year, we agreed that we would split curses and deathtraps and myself and Lesso would co-teach personal magic classes. 

''Would you like some punch? I can only imagine it has been spiked by one of our students'' Lesso chucked as she headed off to get punch. ''Yes please, I would be more surprised if it wasn't spiked by now, a personal best for our students'' I say rolling my eyes. 

Lesso comes back with a bright pink punch, we both cheers it and drink up, ''definitely spiked'' I say feeling my eye twitch as the vodka hit my throat. 

''Can't hold your liquor Ignes?'' ''I can, I bet you I could drink you under the table Lady Lesso, but another night, we have to be professional remember?'' I say shooting her a quick wink. 

''Bet, Ignes, we shall see this weekend'' Lesso says as she finishes her drink. 

*Time skip to the end of the ball*

As the ball comes to a close, myself and Lesso were stood towards the exit, suddenly Chasing Cars by snow patrol came on. I look at Lesso and hold out my hand, not caring anymore. ''Lesso, may I have this dance'' I say like a prince which makes her laugh a little. ''If I must...'' Lesso rolls her eyes while laughing. 

We take to the floor and we dance slowly to the song, Lesso places 1 hand on my waist and the other on my shoulder, I place both my hands around her waist, we sway to the music. 

I sing along and while dancing I could hear Lesso begin to sing along. 

''All that I am, All that I ever was, was here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see'' I sing while looking into her eyes, and that is the moment everything in my chaotic life became clear. ''Lesso...'' 

''I don't know where, confused about how as well, Just know that these things will never change for us at all'' Lesso looks into my eyes.

*Lesso's POV*

''All that I am, All that I ever was, was here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see'' Ignes sang but this time not just to the song, she was singing to me, about me... 

''I don't know where, confused about how as well, Just know that these things will never change for us at all'' I sing back to her, my confused mind has been cleared, my feelings all make sense. 

I look into her eyes again, this time silence falls between us, I search her face for answers but before I could speak I was cut off. 

*Your POV*

I decided that life was not worth living unless I chased my dream, took my chance and I did just that. Before Lesso could say anything, I leant in and kissed her. After a moment I pulled away. ''Lesso I- I...'' I was cut off by another kiss. 

What I forgot however was how much of a dangerous position I had just put both of us in...
