'Lycans are real?!' My mind screamed at me as my heart began to pound rapidly in my chest.
"Th-they c-can't be r-e-eal!" I stutter in total shock.
For some reason the thought of vampires being real seemed a lot more logical than werewolves. Probably because my mate is a vampire. But regardless, if werewolves are real... What else is real? I shuddered at the thought. My reality being completely shattered from the fact that the things that go bump in the night are very much so real. And I'm completely in love with one.
Roman hugged me tight, "Don't worry. You will never encounter one. And I will make sure of that. They're just putrid creatures. Absolutely vile things." He spat like he had a sour taste in his mouth.
I raised an eyebrow at him, wondering why there was such hostility towards. This brought me to my next question,
"Why don't you like them?"
He looked at me like I suddenly gone mad and grew an extra head. His stare had me feeling extremely stupid and embarrassed.
When he finally got over being baffled by my question, he spoke,
"Although, a lot of things, well, mostly all the things you've seen from movies, television shows, and read in books are false; the war between our two species is very real." He states matter of factly.
My eyes widen in surprise, and I nod my head, encouraging him to carry on.
Taking my silence as a signal to carry on, he continues,
"It all started over a beautiful woman. She was absolutely captivating, and anyone she encountered couldn't deny it. Neither could the original and first vampire king, or the the lycan king. They both chased after her relentlessly. But her true mate was in fact the vampire king. This enraged the lycan king so much he began crusades on the vampires. All because his hurt feelings and bruised ego." He tells, the ending coming out bitter.
"That's horrible!" I sympathies, snuggling into him more.
He shrugs his shoulders and sighs,
"It was a very long time ago. And my mother and father are still strong as ever."
I gasp, covering my mouth with my hand. Disbelief washed out throughout my body. Roman obviously took in my shocked expression and began to laugh softly, pulling me into a tight bear hug; which became suffocating after a few moments. Slowly he let me out of his bear trap of a hug and nuzzled his face into my hair.
"You are absolutely adorable. I told you we are the originals." He mumbles into my hair.
I roll my eyes, and nudged him in the side with my elbow,
"I didn't know your parents were the original vampires, smart ass." I say playfully before a yawn escapes my lips.
Roman jumps up from the bed and heads over to the closet, and grabs some clothes.
He tosses me some grey sweats, and a plain white tank top. I get up from the bed and begin to strip out of my clothes in front of Roman.
I've always been confident of my body, so I had no shame in getting naked in front of my mate. Even when his eyes raked up and down my body.
Once dressed, I hop back into the overly comfy bed and slide under the blankets. Roman gets in beside me in in just a pair of silky black boxers. He pulls me up against him, so my back was against his well maintained front. His lips brush against my ear,
"I cannot wait to claim you. Have a good sleep gorgeous." He whispers in a husky voice.
My cheeks flush as my eyes begin to flutter shut, and sleep overtakes me.
