As we drove off into the dark, I couldn't help noticing a mysterious figure looming on the opposite side of the street of all the chaos. Quickly brushing off the eerie feeling, and assume that it is just another pathetic person with no life that has to be nosey.

Continuing into the night my eyes began to grow heavier with each passing second and soft sob. Shortly after I drifted off into an almost none dream sleep, but for some reason that mysterious man clung into my mind.

After what only felt like a few minutes sleep, I feel the car come to an abrupt stop and turn off. Stirring in my seat slightly, not wanting to get up, I hear doors opening and shutting. Suddenly I feel my seatbelt being taken off and a strong familiar pair of arms lifting me up, and taking me inside. Soon after I feel the comfort of my bed, sighing happily. I hear my father's light footsteps start to leave the room, causing my eyes to shoot open, and sit up quickly in my bed, suddenly not wanting to be alone.

"Daddy? Can I sleep in bed with Mom and you tonight... I really don't want to be alone." I ask him quietly, squinting at him through the darkness of my bedroom.

"If you'd like to, Sweetheart." He replies softly, pain slightly laced in his voice.

I crawl out of my bed, "I need to shower and get changed out of these... clothes." I state, biting hard on my lip.

My Dad flicks my bedroom light on, and nods his head before leaving the room, leaving me to shower and change. I walk over to my dresser, opening my pajama drawer and grabbing a pair of pink and black flannel pajama pants and a white oversized t-shirt. After receiving my clothes I quickly make my way over to my joining bathroom. Shutting the door, I avoid the mirror, not wanting see my reflection. I strip out of my bloodied clothing and scurry over to the shower, turning it up to an extremely hot temperature.

Hopping in, the extreme temperature instantly scolds my skin. Welcoming the feeling I begin to scrub my skin roughly. Once feeling my skin was clean enough, I quickly wash my hair and shut off the shower. I grab my pink fluffy towel, drying my hair and body.

Finally dressed and ready for bed, I make my way down the hallway to my parents bedroom. I knock softly on the door before slowly opening the door to reveal my parents sitting in bed and giving me a gentle smile. I quickly scramble over to them, crawling between both my parents. Snuggling underneath the covers, my Mom stroking my hair, humming You Are My Sunshine.

What only seemed like minutes, I fall into a deep sleep. My mind flashes with glimpses of my brother before going right back to that gloomy silhouette of the stranger. Who are you?! What do you want?! My mouth wants to scream out at the stranger, but nothing leaves my mouth. Cautiously approach the man, needing to see his face. But the more I seem to come near him, the further he seems to slip into the abyss of the night.

The next few days seemed to just pass by, each day seeming to be more unbearable as the last. Until finally the most dreaded day came. My brother's funeral.

Thankfully my parents were extremely busy making sure everything was going to according to plan, leaving me alone to try and cope with what I was about to endure.

After putting my long, dark brown hair into soft curls, I head over to my closet to decide what to wear. Skimming the entire contents of my closet, I decide on a simple sweetheart neckline, black halter pencil dress. I grab a pair of black lace boyshort panties and skin colour leotard, I take a seat on my bed putting them on. When entirely dressed, I decide to put on some makeup. Deciding on just some foundation, eyeliner, a Smokey Brown eyeshadow look, and some mascara.

Once satisfied enough with my appearance, I grab my black closed toe, 5 inch stiletto heels, slipping them on. Before exiting the house, I grab my small black clutch and sunglasses. I spam the door shut, taking a deep breath in and out.

I open my clutch, grabbing my iPhone to check where my friend, Leah, was.

"Almost there! Sorry for being late! :(" Read her short, obviously rushed message.

A small smile slips on my lips, and I shake my head as I put my phone back into my clutch. Before shutting my clutch, I grab a cigarette and a lighter, placing the cigarette delicately between my lips and flicking the lighter, lighting the cigarette.

Smoking was something I always hated, but enjoyed too much to quit. Memphis always nagged at me to try to quit, but me being the stubborn person I am, well let's just say it always ended in an argument.

As I sat on my front porch waiting for Leah, gradually puffing away on my cigarette, I glance around my surroundings. My eyes suddenly stop on a figure in the far distance. A familiar eerie feeling enveloped me as I squinted harder to see who it was. Standing up from the bench on my front porch, I began to walk down the three wooden steps, trying to see better. As I was making my way closer to the figure, a white Saturn pulls up to the curb in front of me.

"I'm so sorry I'm late!" The little blonde apologizes through the open car window.

Quickly giving my head a shake, I give her a reassuring smile, "It's no problem Leah. It's not like we're going to a place I want to go." I state sadly, walking over to the passenger door.

Before getting in, I glance over my shoulder to see if the mysterious person was still there. To my surprise, they weren't. I furrow my eyebrows together, shaking it off, sliding into the passenger seat.

"What were you looking at?" Leah asks quizzical to what I was looking at as she pulls away from the curb and back onto the road.

Not wanting to sound paranoid, I shrug my shoulders, "Nothing, just thought I saw a stray dog running around. But it was just off its leash." I state hesitantly, hoping she believed in my life.

She nods her head as she pulls into the almost nearly full funeral home parking lot. I sigh in relief as she puts the car in park and turns off the engine.

"I can't imagine how hard this is for you, but I'm here for you. And all your other friends will be here too. We all love you, October." She says softly, giving me a sad smile.

I bite my bottom lip roughly, nodding in her direction. Opening our doors, we get out, giving them a light push shut.
