Chapter 5

We sat in car in complete silence. The car dragged to a stop at a light; I figured this was a good time to make conversation.

"Hey...Rhett." I spoke with unsureness.

"What's up?" He asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
"I just wanted to Thank you for letting me stay at your house." I replied sincerely.

"It's no problem, I'm always there for my friends." He pointed out.

I blushed on the thought of how he consider me has a friend. We pulled up to his house, got out of the car, grabbed my things and went inside.

"You have a nice place." Looking around the house amazed by it.

"Thank you...." Taking my suit case," I will show you to your room."

He lead me up stairs then taking a right to get the bedroom. He set my suitcase by the door,"The bathroom is just down there," pointing down the hall," And please don't be afraid to make yourself at home."

He left and went down stairs, leaving me in the room. I picked up my suit case and placed it on what was now my bed. I unzipped it and pulled out a tank up and a pair of sweats. I walked down to the bathroom to freshen up.

It had been awhile since I had looked at my self and when I looked in the mirrior I was slightly horrified. I felt a little embarrassed that Rhett had to see me like this. Mascara was all over my face due to the crying, my lipstick was all smudged and my hair was all sorts of tangled from not brushing it.Taking a wash cloth I removed the makeup that remained on my face. Then, I stripped down and hopped in the shower. I finished and put on the tank and the sweats. I put my hair in a bun and felt a little better about my apperence.

I ran down stairs to find Rhett watching TV. I sat down next to Rhett."Feeling better?" He asked.

"A little bit." I said.

My chest still ached like it did yesterday. I knew it would be a long time before that aching went away.

"You hungry?" Rhett asked has he flipped through channels.

My stomach growled. It had been almost a day since I have eaten."Yeah." I replied back.

Rhett pulled out his phone," Is pizza okay with you?" He asked has he dialed the number.

I nodded.

When Rhett finished ordering the food we sat there again in an awkward silence.

After a few minutes Rhett finally broke the silence. "You know you are kinda quiet person, even at work you hardly talk. Why is that?" Rhett question.

I shrugged," I don't know really. I guess you can say I'm kinda shy."

"Well the shy part I figured out already," Rhett joked and continued," But in true honest don't be afraid to talk Link or I while we are working in the office, we don't bite."

I smiled a bit," I guess I should start doing that more often, I have been working there for awhile now."

The bell rang." That must be the pizza!" Rhett getting up from the couch to answer the door.

I got up from the couch and made my way to the dining table. Rhett brought over the pizza and we each grabbed a slice.

"Beth, Can I ask you a few questions?" Rhett asked, attempting to make dinner conversation.

"Sure...ask away." I replied.

"Do plan on taking back Gabe or do you plan on divorceing him?" Rhett asked.

I almost chocked on my bite of pizza. Why would Rhett want to know anything like that! "That's none of your business Rhett!" I sapped but I instantly felt guilty.

Rhett looked down in shame," I know it isn't......I was just.....curious."

I took a hold of Rhett's hand," Rhett look at me." I ordered.

Rhett slowly tiltled his head back up to face me," I'm sorry I snapped at you," still having a hold of his hand,"I'm just really hurting right now, but to answer your question yes I plan on divorceing Gabe."

Rhett got up from the chair and pulled me up into a hug. "I know your hurting right now Beth and has your friend it hurts me to see you having to go through this." He pulled me closer to him.

"Rhett you are more than just a friend you are probably the best friend anyone could have and I believe you are gonna help me through this." I reasurred him.

Well held each other for a few more minutes then let go.

"Well," Rhett yawned," I think it's time for both of us to go to bed."

I yawned too and nodded in agreement," I think you are right."

We went upstairs and gave each other one final hug before going our seperate ways. I crawled into bed, giving one final thought about Rhett before falling asleep.
