MK was grateful that they didn't stay in the mall long after that. Instead, after grabbing something quick to eat, they went back through the window and to the car, with Wukong being oddly helpful as he guided MK down from the window ledge and then quickly back into the car.
"Okay, so since that little adventure was a bust, how do you feel about finding a bowling alley to have some fun at?" Wukong asked as he started up the car engine and MK paled, twisting his head hard enough to ache as he gawked at the older.
"What?" He shrieked, after everything they'd just been through he wanted to go find even more trouble! He could hardly believe it.
"Haha, I'm just kidding! Man, you should have seen your face." He laughed to himself, taking the car out of park and beginning to drive as MK sulked and crossed his arms.
"Well to be fair how was I supposed to know? You literally enjoy chaos for whatever reason." MK huffed, defending himself as Wukong shrugged.
"That's fair, but don't worry that was enough of an adventure for me." He said and MK nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly.
"Yeah, me too." Way too much of an 'adventure' if you asked him. MK's head still throbbed and his throat still hurt so he was happy that Wukong hadn't put the music back on, because he had no doubt the sound would have only made his headache worse.
"You know, if your head's still bothering you I've probably got something in my bag that'll help," Wukong said suddenly and MK opened his eyes, not even having noticed that he'd closed them in the first place as he blinked.
"Oh yeah! That's a good idea. I've definitely got some paracetamol in mine anyway." He grinned, searching around in his bag to find the first aid kit. He found it easily, taking out the pills and his water and downing them as he leaned his head back against the headrest, closing his eyes on purpose this time and listening to the sound of the engine as they drove.
It was kinda soothing, especially if he ignored the sounds of the dead wailing outside and he felt himself relax for the first time that day, tired and worn out after everything that had happened.
It wasn't long before he slipped off to sleep, the motions of the car and the exhaustion easily helping him drift off.
When he woke up an undetermined amount of time later, it was because of a sudden and unexpected jolt of the car coming to a very abrupt stop, making MK (who hadn't put his seatbelt on) jerk forward and slam his forehead onto the dashboard, instantly and painfully awake as he rubbed at his forehead in confusion.
"Oh, hey bud! You're finally awake." Wukong greeted and MK was too busy trying to understand where he was and what was going on to reply, looking around him for a second before turning back.
"Why'd you stop?" He asked groggily, still rubbing at the sore spot on his head and wondering if this much battering in one day was healthy.
"I got hungry, duh. Pretty sure it's close enough to be time to stop for the day anyway. I've literally been driving for hours." MK didn't feel bad enough to apologize, but looked out the window and found that, yes, the sky was darker than it had been when he'd fallen asleep that afternoon.
Then he realized something else.
"Hey! You let me sleep with a concussion!" He accused, and although he wasn't positive it was a concussion it sure felt like one and he thought you weren't supposed to let someone sleep with a concussion.
"Eh, I'm pretty sure that's a myth, and hey you woke up just fine anyway so it was nothing to worry about."
"...I guess," MK mumbled unhappily, finding it hard to find anything to argue with in his statement.
