MK... didn't want to wake up. Immediately he felt cold, curling in closer to the heat next to him and furrowing his eyebrows. His head hurt and ached, and he just wanted to go back to sleep, letting that painless fog sweep over him again.

Right when it felt like he was going to go back to blissful quiet something next to him moved, the sounds of quiet murmuring making him frown and push his face into what he was assuming was a pillow harder. His head hurt.

"Let...sleep?" His ears made out and he ignored it until a hand was on his forehead and he made a noise of complaint, the sound rumbling deeply in his chest.

"..hot.." He heard again and this time he did let his eyes scrunch up before slowly opening them, glad that it wasn't bright in the room as he blinked awake.

"Waz goin' on?" He muttered, still tired and groggy with sleep and he winced as he sat up, grabbing at his head that hurt.

"You okay, kiddo? You're not looking so good." Wukong's voice rumbled next to him and MK hummed, leaning into his side and letting him place his hand on his forehead again. It was nice, and MK hummed again when he started running his fingers through his hair.

"Kid?" He sounded worried now and MK made an effort to look at him.

"Hm? Yeah. I'm okay." He said, then paused, smacking his dry lips together.

"Thirsty." He muttered, then thought again and added,

"Head hurts." He felt shitty, really, and when something was passed into his hands he looked down to find a water bottle, happily unscrewing the lid and tipping it into his mouth. Some of it dripped onto his clothes and the blankets but MK didn't care, sighing in relief and then coughing suddenly.

It hurt and he winced as he held his chest, a hand rubbing his back soothingly that he was sure was Wukong's.

"Here. I got you some medicine." Macaque mumbled and MK looked up to find him nearby, pills in hand that MK quickly took from him and swallowed dry. He didn't bother asking what they were, anything to help with the pounding of his head.

He still felt tired even though he'd just woken up and leaned further into Wukong, closing his eyes again.

"Are you sick?" Wukong asked lowly, tone quiet and MK nodded his head before pausing, remembering clearly exactly why he was ill and why Wukong couldn't know. His eyes sprung open in worry and he shook his head.

"It's probably just a cold!" He defended, wincing at how it hurt his throat and Wukong hummed before passing him more water. This time MK drank small sips, not wanting to cough again and it helped.

He was feeling a little better as he woke up, and he sat there with Wukong until whatever meds he'd been given kicked in, and when his headache dulled into something small and manageable he made an effort to sit up properly, yawning as he looked around.

"Feel a bit better, kid?" Wukong asked and MK nodded, rubbing the crick in his neck and pulling the blankets up around him.

"Yeah. Those pills were pretty useful." He said, glancing over to Macaque gratefully and the man nodded as Wukong cheaked MK's forehead again.

"Good. You should still take it easy though, you've got a temperature." He said and MK shrugged, moving to stand.

"Sure, but I'm fine." He said, managing to stand up, and even though Wukong hovered he didn't make MK sit down again even though it was clear he wanted to.

"So, what's the plan for today then? We could check out the rest of the mall, maybe we could even find a swimming pool and have some fun. I haven't been swimming in ages!" MK said, eager to enjoy today even though he felt like garbage but with the medication it was easy enough to ignore when, now that the headache was manageable, the only symptom to worry about was how chilly he felt and how much his arm throbbed.
