Zombies scratching at the car, MK's afternoon went from waking up to on high alert very quickly and at his distress, Wukong pulled out his gun, the sight something Macaque must have noticed because his head snapped toward the back seats quicker than a flash with narrowed eyes.

"Don't." He snapped, tone harsh and glare just as cold.

"If you shoot then more will just come, idiot. They'll move on if we stay still and silent long enough." He hissed, and Wukong rolled his eyes but put his gun back, biting down on his tongue like he had something scathing to say.

The group stayed silent, watching as the two creatures banged and hit the car, attracted to the sound of the failed, hissing engine but soon and yet forever later they grew bored, finding nothing of interest, nothing to eat, and moving along.

"Someone should get out and check it," Mei whispered at last and Macaque sighed.

"I'll do it." He said at the same time Sandy did and they both looked at each other.

"I know all about cars, so fixing it up should be a piece of cake!" The bigger man claimed and Macaque nodded.

"I'll keep watch then." They left the car, opening the doors as quietly as possible and not bothering to shut them as they made their way around to the front of the car. It made MK's nerves spike, but he quickly calmed himself down, feeling Mei slip her hand into his comfortingly as he reminded himself he was already dying so there was no point being afraid.

Less worried, MK sent his friend a thankful look and then watched as Sandy opened the hood of the car and looked inside. He could see the smoke rising from what was probably the engine, and it sent a bad feeling in his gut.

Everyone was on edge and silent as the two were outside and every second that passed made MK feel more and more worried for the two as he anxiously watched for any zombies in the area. He forced his knee still to keep it from bouncing impatiently as he looked out the window for any zombies, biting his lips till it hurt and glancing back at Sandy and Macaque every few seconds to make sure they were okay.

Eventually, what felt like years later the two got back in the car, somehow looking less stressed than everyone else did.

"So?" Wukong asked impatiently and Macaque sighed.

"Busted. We're gonna need to get another car." He huffed and Sandy nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, looks like it's overheated and some of the wires melted a little. We could fix her up with some tools but it would take a while and finding another car would be quicker." He confirmed and MK wanted to groan at the thought of going outside and traveling right now. He already felt awful, his head aching and his skin clammy one second and chilled the next.

It was annoying, and his arm ached so fiercely he wasn't sure he'd be able to climb anything right now.

"The kids should stay here. Wukong and I will go find a working car while you three wait."

"What?! Aww no fair, I want to help!" Mei yelled, petulant and disappointed and MK wondered if Macaque was making them stay back for him. He wasn't sure whether to feel relieved or insulted.

"You can help by staying put. It'll be quicker with just the two of us." He said, not giving Wukong a choice in the matter as he exited the car. Wukong took one moment to look over MK worriedly before sighing and reaching over to ruffle his hair with a smile.

"Don't worry, we'll be back before you know it. Stay out of trouble." He told them before following after Macaque and leaving them with Sandy and MK snorted to himself. They were gonna be in a stationary car the whole time, how much trouble could they possibly get into?
