The first thing he did was looking whether the Jeon's back door was open or not.
Well, it obviously wasn't but he knew that Miss Jeon always kept a key underneath their doormat for emergencies.
He bent down and lifted the mat, expecting to see a small, shiny object infront of him but it was nowhere to be seen. Now he was standing there, baffled and freezing. And the thing is, Jimin truly was embarrassingly desperate to find a way for him to fall asleep.
---
"I can't believe I'm doing this,"
Jimin murmured to himself.
He was standing right infront of the drain pipe next to Jeongguk's window. Looking up, Jimin was able to see that the window was slightly opened.Actually, he knew that he had enough strength to climb up to the window, yet he was very aware of the fact that it was kind of dangerous. It seemed like it was, at least.
Nevertheless, he he stood on a protruding metal piece and pulled himself up. He must've looked quite funny, hugging the pipe as if his life depended on it.
Yet, he still managed to climb all the way up to the window in less than a minute. He held onto the window frame and threw one leg over it.Jeongguk, who was currently sitting on his bed, holding his guitar, looked up and his jaw dropped in an instant.
"Now, what the fuck,"
he said loudly while Jimin he hoisted himself over the window sill and was now standing inside his room."I can't sleep. Deal with it,"
Jimin replied, unbothered by Jeongguk's small outburst. He simply went over to the latter's bed and sat down beside him."I didn't know you could play guitar. Go on,"
Jimin said and pointed at the instrument on Jeongguk's lap. Jeongguk didnt answer but instead he placed his fingers on the strings, ready to continue the song he had played before Jimin had mysteriously entered his room.
A soft melody started to fill the room as soon as the younger played a series of chords."Woah, I didn't expect you to be this good. Teach me one day,"
Jimin said just as Jeongguk had finished. The other slightly tilted his head in a teasing manner before replying, "We'll see about that"At that, the blonde chuckled and silence started to surround them. However, it didn't last long because Jimin soon asked a question,
"have you smoked ever since we started this?"Jeongguk was surprised for a second but then responded lowly with his calm voice,
"I haven't. Painting on your wall actually helps a lot"When silence filled the room once again, Jeongguk played another song on the guitar. It was calming and matched the vibe of the starry night.
He abruptly stopped, looking through the window, caught in his thoughts. Opening his mouth and closing it afterwards, it was obvious that he wanted to tell Jimin something."You can talk to me,"
Jimin encouraged him, resting his hand on Jeongguk's arm."Not a lot of people know this actually but when my grandpa was laying on his deathbed, my close family, including me, surrounded him. But he wanted to tell me something, he-"
Jeongguk took a deep breath that turned out to be shakier than he expected. He didn't know why he was opening up about this so suddenly. It was so damn hard to talk about it so why talk with Jimin about it?
"He wanted me to do something. But just when he was about to tell me he-
he stopped talking, he-"
Silent tears were streaming down his face, eyes looking dull and empty, as his hands formed tight, shaky fists, his guitar long forgotten on his lap."Shhh, it's fine. I understand,"
Jimin reassured him. He carefully took away the guitar but Jeongguk wasn't really paying attention to it anyway.
Right after that, the he gently pulled the taller one into a hug which he immediately reciprocated, his arms finding their familiar place around Jimin's waist, trying to not squeeze it too hard. Jeongguk had seemingly calmed down after the other had repeatedly stroked his back.
He continued to talk in a voice that resembled a murmur."Back then I had lost the meaning of life. I was completely thrown off track because I was constantly searching for something I couldn't find. Throughout the years, I realized that there was no point in looking for what he wanted me to do, but rather avoiding what he didn't want me to do"
"Did you find it again? The meaning of life?"
Jimin whispered as he leaned his head against the other's shoulder."I think i did,"
Jeongguk answered, leaning his head on top of Jimin's that was resting on his shoulder."That's also one of the reasons why I agreed to stop smoking"
When Jimin didn't react, Jeongguk sighed softly and spoke up once again,
"Now let's sleep.I guess that's what you came for in the first place"
Jimin just hummed and positioned himself comfortably on the pillow. The other turned off the bedside lamp and covered them with his blanket. He then shuffled closer to the blonde boy and ended up resting his face against his neck as he naturally wrapped one of his arms around Jimin's waist.
"Good night,"
Jeongguk whispered, followed by a subtle kiss against Jimin's neck."Night, Gguk"
