I can't recall the last time I slept this well. As I open my eyes, greeted by the sunrise I hear the clank of a spoon hitting a glass bowl. When I turn my head over to investigate I find Flynn sitting at the edge of the bed with a bowl of cereal in his hands.
He continues making the clanking noise every time he goes for another bite. A second later he checks on me to find me awake. And like a child his face lights up at the sight.
"Finally." He exasperated.
"Ugh, good morning to you too."
"Collin and I went to grab the mustang this morning and my radiator fan was fucking gone! Those things don't just disappear by themselves."
"They stole your fan?"
Flynn nods. "The race is in one week and if my mechanic doesn't get this stupid fan in time I'm fucked."
I sit up from the bed as my eyes watch him pace around the room. I was still half asleep, trying my best to comprehend the situation.
"It's just a race Flynn."
As soon as those words leave my tongue I feel instant regret. I watch as his eyes fall to the floor.
"It's not just another race this time."
"What do you mean?"
"Come on." He ushers for me to get up.
"Am I being kicked out right now?"
He rolls his eyes. "No, I want to show you something."
"If this leaves me with another scraped up knee no thanks."
"It won't I promise now get your ass out of bed."
I frown. "Okay, okay."
"Here you can borrow some of Harley's clothes."
I give him a look of disgust as he hands me a pair of shorts and a top hidden from within his closet.
"Don't ask."
"Wasn't going to." I reply.
"Meet me downstairs in ten. Oh and there's an extra toothbrush in the bathroom."
"Also Harley's?" I laugh.
I can already envision another eye roll as he makes his way out the door.
When he's gone I put the curated outfit on. It was a white band tee and black ripped skinny jeans. Then I brush my teeth with the unopened toothbrush I find on the counter in the bathroom. I can hear Flynn calling for me just as I finish combing my hair.
"I'm coming!" I holler.
Flynn stood at the bottom of the staircase with his arms crossed. What has gotten into him? I start to think maybe it was the kiss? Is he taking me somewhere to talk? I haven't even had my breakfast yet.
"We're taking Collins car." He mentions.
"Romee!"
I look down at Zander who has his arms wide open for a hug. I embrace the little guy who seems to appreciate my company.
"Can I go?" Zander asks.
