Chapter 11 | Babysitter
Zane walks through the door with Flynn barely hanging onto his shoulder. I could quickly tell Flynn was drunk with Zane still sober.
"Someone had too much to drink." Zane says before sitting Flynn on the couch. Flynn is squeezing his eyes closed like he's uncomfortable.
"I'm fine." Flynn mumbles.
"Where's everyone else?" I ask Zane.
"They're still at the party I'm heading back for them now." He answers. "Watch him."
Zane runs out the door. Leaving me alone with Flynn. I look at his drunken state. His head is leaning back on the couch and his eyes are still closed. Flynn's cheeks are also flushed and he appears to be sweating.
"Do you need water?" I ask, worried he could be dehydrated.
"I need my bed. This couch is a piece of shit." He tries to stand up but fails. "Where's Zander?"
"He's asleep."
Flynn pauses and finally opens his eyes to look at me. The white hue has transformed into pink.
"Can you help me get to my room?"
"Sure." I nod.
I grab his hand and pull him up from the couch. At this point he's stumbling but he's steady enough to make it upstairs with my help.
"I don't often ask for help so consider yourself lucky." He whispers.
I roll my eyes trying to lug him down the hallway.
When we're close enough I open the door to his bedroom where he walks inside and collapses on the bed.
"I was right." He mumbles. "This bed is way better than the couch."
"I believe you." I said unsure now, if I should go.
"You can sleep here." He taps the empty space beside him. Although his bed was big enough for the both of us I refuse to sleep in the same bed as him. How could he feel so comfortable letting a stranger in his most precious space?
"The couch is fine."
Flynn props himself up on his elbows.
"Could you grab me a bin?" His face turns sour. "I think I'm gonna be sick."
I quickly grab the small trash bin from
underneath his desk. When I turn around he's sitting at the edge of the bed with his body hunched over. As soon as I place the bin in front of him he starts to purge.I sit beside him and look away. For some reason I rest my hand on his back and draw circles in it with my thumb. I figure this might help relax him?
Flynn stops but he's still hunched over and groaning.
"I'm sorry." He suddenly apologizes. I notice the depth in his voice becoming softer. It's unexpected.
"It's okay." I assure him.
I realize my hand is still on his back so I quickly pull away. A moment later he turns around and lies on his stomach with his face inside his pillow. He's still dressed which I imagine is uncomfortable.
I figure I should give him some privacy so I turn my heel towards the door and leave his bedroom. At this time I grab my bag and change into my pajamas for the night. When I finish, Zane and Collin are in the living room with Ricky who's already passed out on the couch.
Great.
"I tried getting him up." Collin adds.
"I guess you'll have to sleep on the floor." Zane laughs.
