Chapter 15

Before my parents passing, I've always felt alone.

They showered Reece with love and affection, then ignored their only daughter. I wish I had an explanation but there was none. I didn't have anything in common with my mother. She felt like a stranger and my dad was often too busy to pay me any mind.

Reece has always been the same overprotective, arrogant brother. So after my argument with him I locked myself inside my room. Just like I'd done all those times before.

I didn't mind it. I even stored snacks underneath my bed and movies to keep me company.

So I lie down but as I stare at the ceiling my mind goes to Flynn. I could feel the brush of his hands on my hips and the way he felt on my lips. The thought makes my stomach go queazy and I couldn't shake the feeling.

Wait a minute, he gave me his number. Should I text him? I think about it first and decide it's okay.

I grab my phone and pull up his contact. Shortly after I send a 'hey' text his way. Wait, he's not going to know who I am! Ugh Romee! I quickly send him another message stating 'it's romee'.

Like a child, I wait patiently for his reply.

"What's up?" He says.

"My brothers ruining my life."

"I'm not surprised."

"You're not helping."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Not anymore."

Now annoyed and frustrated I cross my arms and frown when all of a sudden my phone starts to ring. Why is he calling me?

With a roll of my eyes I answer.

"Are you trying to get me in trouble?" I whisper yell.

He laughs. I can imagine the smile on his face.

"You started it."

"Did not!" I scoff.

"Something's bothering you." He bluntly states.

I fear Reece might be listening. "I'd rather not talk about it."

"Okay...how's the leg?"

I take a quick glance. "It's doing okay."

"Keep it clean you don't want to get an infection."

"Have you ever thought about becoming a nurse?" I said, genuinely curious.

"So I could wipe asses all day? No thank you." He groans.

"How about a doctor?"

"How about I finish high school first?"

"You're almost there." I remember. We were in the middle of January with only a couple of months to go. Then Flynn would be free of East Landings. Unlike me who had to wait another year before it was over.
