Fact no. 1: I hate Noah Coin

APRIL

"WHAT?!", I can hear myself shouting. Mom only chuckles from the other end of the line while talking to me on the phone. I am far away from chuckling. Screaming is more like it.

"Your brother decided to invite him", she adds as an explanation. I know Kai is best friends with him and all, but from all the people on this planet, why the heck did he have to choose Noah Coin?!

"And are you sure you can't come?", I ask again, although I already know the answer. Mom called and told me yesterday that her and Dad have to work during this summer holiday and that they won't be able to come to the sumer house in Spain with me and my brother. We usually go there every year together, ever since I can remember. This will be the first time we'll have to go without them.

"I'm sure, sweetheart. And I am very sorry. Your Dad's team has an important season this year and he has to be there", Mom says. Dad works as coach of an important football team. Passion he gave over to my brother, who is now vice-captain of our university's team. His best friend and the captain of the team is the one person I hate most. My worst-enemy. Noah Coin. The guy who Kai decided to invite as his plus-one to come with us at the house.

"But, I hate him", I find myself confessing. Mom laughs softly as if she already knew that.

"I know", she confirms my suspicions. "But you are also allowed to bring Dia as your plus-one. It's only fair Kai gets to do the same."

It's true. I am taking my bestie with me for the summer. Dia was more than happy to come and can't wait to visit Spain with me. I initially wanted to invite all of my four besties, but they are all already having plans for the summer. So, it's only Dia and me.

"Can't he bring anyone else?" I ask. I already know the answer. No.

"Kai and Noah really are best friends. I don't know if he'd like to invite anybody but him", Mom continues. "You could try to talk to him however. Maybe find a solution to your fighting. It could help."

I am going to talk to Coin but we won't for sure find a solution to our fighting. Because I hate him so very much, I can't just stop hating him from one day to the other. It's really weird though. With love doesn't work this day. I know I can stop loving him and start hating him in the course of a few seconds, but the process to stop hating him might take days, months. Maybe even years. And it's not going to happen so fast, since I have zero intention of starting this process right now.

One thing is clear: I hate Noah Coin.

And he is not going to come on this trip with us.
