APRIL
"They literally said they would meet us in front of the airport", I say for the hundredth time. Dia and me are already waiting in front of the building for over thirty minutes now, waiting on the guys. We could have all driven together to the airport, but the guys told us they'll probably be late and that we should meet them here. Since neither Dia or I have a driver's license, we've asked our friends for help. Also neither of the girls has a driver's license, but Nini was able to convince Caden to drop us here. He came in his pickup truck, which was pretty good for us, since we had enough space for the suitcases. Nini joined us on the way to the airport, wishing us a nice holiday the whole time and almost crying once for how much she'll miss us. We'd already been through the same process with Soph and Nessie who remained at the dorm room. They've wanted to come but we wouldn't have managed to bring all the suitcases then. As we left, they came hug us and we all cried together. Nessie even made us some fresh cookies, to have on the plane. We ended up in another group hug at the end.
Dia and I are talking about the movie we watched last night as a car honks and I see Kai waving at us from the driver's seat.
Finally.
Dia and I follow the car to where it went to park and stop to look at the guys. Kai is wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and a pair of beige shorts. The colors are complimenting his brown skin tone nicely, the same skin tone as mine. He is wearing a pair of sunglasses and his feet are covered in white sneakers. Noah Coin is dressed more casual. A simple black T-Shirt; simple, but enough to show the muscles on his forearms to the world. He'd paired it with a pair of jeans and some sneakers.
Kai gives me a hug as a greeting while Coin goes get their suitcases out of the trunk. Dia and I already carried our baggage here, all five luggages. Kai raises an eyebrow as he sees how many bags we took with us, yet I only flash him an innocent smile. He smirks. Even Dia chuckles softly. I can't help but look at her for a moment. She's wearing a black tank top, tugged in a red skirt with small white flowers on it. She's wearing white sneakers and the big black headphones are on her ears, giving her protection. She only takes them off as our eyes meet.
Coin doesn't bother offering us a real greeting, merely nods at us. I try my best not to show the fact I'm annoyed.
However, I still hold on dear to my manners. "I believe everybody here knows each other", I say, but begin with the introduction round anyway. "Dia, this is my brother, Kai, and his best friend, Coin. Kai, Coin, this is Dia, Lydia, my bestie."
She smiles at me, her face filled with warmth, before she turns to the guys and looks at the ground, being too shy to meet their looks. Kai's look only shows happiness, happy for me that I found a best friend. Coin's eyes wonder off my bestie's body, as if he had just found his new prey. From her breasts to her waist and hips. As he sees that I noticed his glare, he swallows hard. Dia hasn't noticed the glare, thankfully. I make a note to myself to make it clear to Coin later on, what the rules on this trip are. Rule number one, he doesn't touch my bestie. Dia has a boyfriend at home, and although Leo is an idiot who doesn't deserve her, she seems to love him. So, I keep my mouth shut and don't say anything to her about their relationship, happy she's happy. And Noah Coin checking her out won't make her happy. Especially not given the fact Dia had to convince Leo thousand of times that she won't cheat on him or look at any other guy during this holiday. As if she would ever do that. It broke my heart seeing how devastated she was as her boyfriend even assumed she would. Especially not after he damn-well knows the hardships Dia has been through because of her parents 'divorce.
"Let's go", Kai suggests noticing the creepy silence that has installed between us. I nod and let him take the bags Dia and I were holding. Coin ends up carrying his and Kai's.
We follow the guys through the airport. It's so crowded, it's barely impossible not to lose yourself from the group. I take Dia's hand and give it a squeeze. She smiles at me excited. I can see that she has put the headphones on her ears again. I give her hand a bigger squeeze. She takes a deep breath and seems to relax a little.
After we pass the check-in and bag control, we hurry our way to the gate. Thanks to the guys being overly late, we only have a short time left before the plane flies off. I try my best not to swear at them while we're running our lives to catch the flight.
We luckily make it in time and manage to go through the gate and in our airplane. Most of the seats are already taken, obviously. We head to the reserved seats we have and while Dia and Kai sit down, each on a different row, I stay to help Coin put the bags in the compartment above us. He looks rather surprised that I stayed to help, offering me side-eyes the whole time. As I finish and notice Dia isn't looking at us for a second, I grab his wrist to catch his attention. His head immediately turns to me.
"Let me make one thing clear", I begin, my voice colder than cold. He must have sensed it too, since he doesn't comment. I only continue: "If you touch Dia, if you even look at her like that again, I will fucking kill you."
He raises an eyebrow and wants to add something.
I let go of his wrist and go sit next to my bestie.
The moment she sees me, she gives off her headphones and tilts her head to be able to get a better look at my face.
"Everything okay?", she asks, her voice sounding worried.
"Everything okay", I answer. She doesn't seem so convinced but doesn't push the topic.
I take out the tablet from my backpack and the headphones. Dia removes her one and we each get an earbud. I open the tablet and look the films I've downloaded for the flight. Somewhere, the captain announces the take off. We keep our hands together while the airplane starts gliding in the air. The moment we're flying at a constant speed, I put the tablet on the small table attached from Coin's seat, who is sitting in front of me, next to Kai. Dia makes herself cozy, tilting her head on my shoulder. I start the series, the series I've been bingeing lately. "Stranger Things". I also take out Nessie's cookies from my backpack and place them on the table next to the tablet, for us to have some snacks.
Kai turns around to check on us at some point, but we're already too interested in the series to answer any questions. He only smirks and continues teasing Coin about something.
With a smirk on my face, I turn my attention back to the screen.
