"CLING, CLENG, BANG"
I jolt awake, wide-eyed, frantically looking around in the dark thinking that my alarm has gone off. Is it already morning?
I fumble blindly for my clock. 00:07.
I let out a sigh of relief, roll onto my side, and close my eyes praying to get some sleep in for tomorrow.
"Tap, tinkle, CRASH"
I shoot upright in my bed. I recognize the sound of glass shattering all over my floor, God i'm praying that it's not my mothers vase. If it is her vase, she will be fuming when she finds out.
Barely-awake, I stand up from my bed and the cold air hits me . I glance back at my warm, cozy sheets, debating if I should dive back in and let this be a problem for morning-me.
Then I hear some strange noise coming from somewhere in the apartment.
Maybe this is a problem for now-me.
I quickly put on the nearest hoodie and gather up the courage to go take a look.
The door handle squeaks as I press it down. Of course it does, this is exactly how all horror movies start.
Walking into the dark hallway I decide to switch on the lights, so that I could head towards the reading corner that I like to call my mini library. As I walk to the door, I suddenly realise that I forgot my glasses.
I hurry back to the bedroom, grab my glasses and turn back around.
On my way to the mini library I notice that the hall is getting brighter and brighter .
I open the door. To my relief, there's no one inside, at least as far as I can see.
Then my heart drops to my stomach as I see my mothers vase shattered on the ground.
Shit.
If my mom finds out about this, she will drag me down to hell. If I remember correctly she said " I trust you to look after this vase whi'm on vacation. It's very dear to me, don't drop it".
I look around to see if there's anything that I can use to clean up the shards of the vase. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I notice a bright light.
I turn my head sharply.
It's coming from one of my bookcases.
I step closer, squinting. One of the books is glowing faintly on the shelf.
Carefully, I reach for it and pull it out. I sit down in my chair, the book resting in my hands.
The book opens immediatly and this immense white light is shining out of the book blinding me. I raise my hand to shield my eyes and drop it, it hits the ground with a thud. The book starts to shake and the pages are flipping over at a high speed .
Out of no where a wind comes in the room growing stronger by the second. It feels like I'm Harry Potter in the chamber of secrets when he's writing in Tom Riddles diary.
But like, thats in movies so that can't happen right...
Just to be cautious, I get up from the chair and close the window. The wind immediatly lies down, but the strange hum remains. I go sit down again and cafefully pick up the book from the ground. The book has stopped flipping through its pages and now lies open on a single page. Written on the page is a single sentence.
"In a world full of rules, full of people who can change it, only one decides to rewrite them ".
Curious, I flip the book over to look at its cover. To my surprise, it has no title. I don't even remember buying the book.
Turning it to the side I see that the one of the pages is still glowing. I open the book back to the middle. The glowing white light has been formed into the shape of a keyhole.
Carefully, I brush my hand against the page and touch the keyhole . As I do, a tingling spreads through my hand, and the light grows brighter and more intense. I try to pull my hand from the page but I can't. It somehow seems to be stuck, almost as if my hand is glued to the book.
I raise my other hand to shield my eyes, trying to see through the light, but it doesn't work. The brightness floods everything, and I'm completely blinded.
Then the light surrounds me, swallowing everything.
And then,
Black.
