I woke up with a pounding headache. I don't even remember anything that happened last night. I drank a shot of Vodka and everything seemed to be blurred after that. I turned to find there was a note along with pills and water. I know that Alex kept those pills since I might need them. I know he still cares for me, but I can't endure the same heartbreak again. It feels like it was better when I'm admiring and loving him afar, but at the same time when I remember our time together, I want to be like that again. I'm not going to lie, I still love Alex, In the process of hating him, I started missing him and loving him more than I did before.
I need time. I need time to accept him into my life again even though I still love him.
"Good morning!" Grayson entered the room after knocking as I groaned lying on my bed.
"Well, bad morning, I think!" He chuckled as I smiled at him.
"Breakfast is ready, girl. Come on get up!" He grabbed my hand and tried to pull me up as I whined. Grayson was contemplating saying something to me, but he was holding it up.
"You can say it to me, Grayson." I glanced at him while he let out a small smile as if he was thinking it was an excellent time to say it or not. I was still looking at him, he sighed and sat beside me in the bed.
"It's just, I know I shouldn't be getting in between you two. But, I really need to say this, Mireya." He paused as he bit his lips while I raised my eyebrows and looked at him.
"I know you are mad at Alex for leaving you without getting a full explanation of what happened. I bet he deserves it for his mistake. But, do you know what actually happened when he left you there?" I shook my head hoping he hadn't done anything rash. I can tell Grayson is worried for his best friend and he knows he has gone through something here.
"He cried, Mireya!" I blinked back the tears that were threatening to fall out. I have never seen Alex cry. He never cried, because he never had to. He always hid his feelings and never once wanted to talk it out.
"He cried each and every day hoping that you would forgive him. He realized his mistake the moment he stepped into college. He regretted leaving you without letting you explain things like they were. He regretted everything. He never stopped talking about all these one whole year. Whenever he sees something, it reminds him of you. He would say 'She would have loved eating that', 'She likes to take pictures with me' and so on.
He didn't know how to rectify his mistake and ask for forgiveness. After College made him busier and he really didn't have time to come home. Don't think that he wanted to avoid you. He applied for internships because he wanted to gain knowledge, but he never forgot you. He would still take at least five minutes a day to talk to us about you. Anything about you, that reminds him of you.
He never once looked at any girl or touched any of the girls on the campus. Alex is the heartthrob of the College, Mireya. Every girl wants him and every girl at least wants him to look into their eyes, but he never once glanced at them. Not even once, because his heart belongs only to one girl and that girl is you!
