I miss you... When I say that, I miss you more
"Alex," Adrian's voice cut through the fog of my grief, gentle but insistent. "You need to eat something. You need to take care of yourself."
I shook my head, not looking up. "I can't," I whispered. "I can't do anything without her."
He sat beside me, his hand on my shoulder, his own grief evident in his eyes. "I know," he said softly. "But Mireya wouldn't want you to waste away. She would want you to live, to find a way to go on."
I knew he was right, but the thought of living without her was unbearable. How could I go on when the love of my life was gone? How could I face each day knowing she wouldn't be there to share it with me? It's been a week, but I can't still move on or do anything without her beside me.
"Just try," Adrian urged, his voice breaking. "For her. For all the love you shared."
I nodded, though I didn't know if I could. But I owed it to Mireya to try, to find a way to honor her memory, even if it felt impossible.
"You know, the human brain relives for seven minutes after death," Adrian whispered, his voice hoarse. "I know you covered most of her memories as far as I know."
I stared at him, trying to understand his words through the haze of my grief. Seven minutes. Seven minutes where Mireya might still be experiencing her life, her memories. I clung to the thought, hoping that in those last moments, she was reliving the happiest times we had shared.
"Seven minutes," I repeated, my voice barely a whisper. "I hope... I hope she felt all the love we had."
Adrian nodded, his eyes brimming with tears. "She knew, Alex. She knew how much you loved her. We all did."
"I wish I could have given her more time, more memories. I wanted to grow old with her, to see her smile every day."
"You gave her everything you could, Alex. You made her happy, even in the worst of times. That's all anyone could ask for." Adrian squeezed my shoulder.
I remembered our first date, the way her eyes sparkled under the city lights. The countless nights we spent talking about our dreams, our fears, our future. The way she would curl up next to me, her head on my chest, listening to my heartbeat. Every memory was a precious jewel, now tinged with the unbearable pain of knowing there would be no more.
"I can't do this without her," I said, my voice cracking. "I don't know how to go on."
Adrian's grip tightened on my shoulder. "You have to, Alex, for her. She wouldn't want you to give up. She'd want you to live, to find happiness again, even if it seems impossible right now."
I shook my head, tears streaming down my face. "How can I be happy without her? She was my everything."
"She'll always be a part of you," Adrian said softly. "In your heart, in your memories. She'll never truly be gone as long as you remember her." Adrian continued,
