"If you wait a little bit  if you spend just a few sleepless nights, I'll come to meet you, I'll come to pick you up."

I sat on the edge of the bed, running my hand over my bald head

I sat on the edge of the bed, running my hand over my bald head. I had lost all my hair during the radiotherapy, and the sight of it still stabbed at my heart. Alex entered the room, his hair now shaved off, a tender smile on his face.

"What the hell have you done, Alex?" I shook my head in denial but couldn't change what happened. He freaking shaved his head because I lost my hair during my radiotherapy treatment.

"I wanted a change to my boring hairstyle!" He whined and shrugged sitting beside me in the hospital bed.

"Are you serious?" I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. This man does things that no one would do for me. I know Alex and I love his hair, but he shaved his head for me. Me!.

"I know losing your hair has been tough for you, but I want you to know that you're beautiful no matter what." Alex's eyes and voice filled with warmth that calmed my soul and racing mind. I threw my arms around him, and he held me close.

"I love you, Mireya. Your strength is inspiring, and I'm going to be right by your side through it all." I let out a choked laugh, my heart swelling with love. 'I love you too, Alex.' I whispered in my mind. Alex never hesitates to show his love to me every day and he never expects me to say the same to him. I leaned back to look at him, a soft hum escaping my lips.

"You look good, bald." We both laughed, and the weight of the world momentarily lifted from our shoulders, just for the moment.

"We both are now matching and look like we made for each other couples!" Alex winked as I slightly punched him in his arms making him let out a little chuckle. Athena and Mom came in with bright smiles on their faces, though they were worried that I lost my hair, they hid it very well to help me in coping up with the loss. It's been a rough phase for me.

"You shaved your hair!" Mom and Athena exclaimed laughing at Alex, while he chuckled bumping his shoulders with mine.

"My baby, look even more like a rockstar with his head shaved!" Athena winked at Alex, who groaned at the mention of rockstar. In recent days, Alex has been singing quite a number of songs for me whenever I ask him to sing for me. He never hesitates to show off his singing skills to me like he hid before in the past.

"I have brought food, come on eat it. We both will be back in a few." Mom pinched my cheeks as both of them left us alone.

During the first sitting of radiotherapy treatment, the food tasted like shit and like I was eating a pile of nothing, it didn't even taste as my taste buds went dumb. In the upcoming sittings, I lost my appetite and I have started vomiting. And at last, I lost all of my hair. When Mom combed my hair, all she got was a bunch of my hairs on her hand not on my head. She was devasted by the sight when I finally decided to shave my head for the best and I was too. I loved my hair, but I lost it in the process of recovery. I stopped looking at myself in the mirror or camera and no one allowed me to. It hurts to be honest, but I reminded myself, it is a part of life. It is still a part of me, that is still healing or I hope so.
