Ella's PoV
After everything that had been going on, I thought nothing could shock me.
I was wrong.
"What worked? What is this?"
My father smiled. "This is a contraption your genius of a mother came up with. You can contact us whenever you want!"
So that was the magic. "Awesome!"
'Ella, I don't think Patil would very much like this.' Isis said. 'And we need no input on him, Iona.'
I heard a growl, and I laughed. My parents looked confused, but they shrugged I off.
"So are you coming back?"
I was taken aback by my mother's question. "Well... you see, I've learned a lot already, and I can't go back. Not yet, at least."
Wide eyes met me. They blinked a few times, before I said something else. "Something bad could happen if I went back. I'm safer here."
My parents swallowed hard before my father said, "Okay. We need to go. Talk to you soon!"
The picture cut off.
I sighed sadly before getting up. 'Which one of you is more restless? We're going on a run.'
After checking with a guard, I shifted into Isis and started running around. At one point, I tried climbing trees. Let's just say that unbearably bad is an understatement when climbing.
After the hour-long run, I took a shower and changed into different casual clothes and took a quick nap.
I didn't realize I'd have a certain dream.
Dream
I watched a scene as a pale, ghostly form of myself. A young girl, 8 by her looks, was weaving her way though a crowd. She finally got to a clearing and marched her way up to a beautiful, sun-kissed skinned girl with curly golden blonde hair.
"Solia, where were you? I was looking everywhere for you!" The girl stated, her light blonde hair waving in the slight wind.
Solia smiled and ruffled the girl's hair. "Sorry, I was called up to the front and lost you."
I looked closely at the girl before realizing why she seemed so familiar. With the same blonde curls as me, it could only be Cami.
Cami beamed up to Solia. "It's fine! When will the run be?"
Poking Cami's nose, Solia said, "Impatient, are we? It starts soon. Have you figured out which wolf you're running in?"
"Nope! They're still arguing over it! I've had a headache for an hour because of it!" Cami replied, a sweet smile on her face.
A bell rang, probably signifying that the run was starting, and Cami ran off. Solia ran after her, shouting, "Cami, wait up! Cami!"
End of dream
"Cami! Cami, wake up!"
I groggily opened my eyes to see a girl standing over me, shaking me awake.
I sighed. "Please don't call me that."
The girl looked awkward. "Alpha didn't tell me your name, so I used the next best thing."
After blinking sleep out of my eyes, I got a closer look at the girl. The had light ginger hair that was pulled into twin braids going down her back. She had dark brown eyes, and freckles were splashed around her pale nose.
"My name is Ella."
The girl nodded and replied, "Beth."
I stood up. "So, Beth, what do you need?"
She looked down at a watch. "Dinner starts in 15 minutes." she said.
I nodded, and she left. I walked to my closet to put on something slightly nicer. I decided on a light blue skirt with a white shirt.
After changing, I brushed the mane surrounding my head and pulled it into a ponytail.
Five minutes. A new record for getting dressed.
I flopped back onto the bed, contemplating my dream. That was now two scenes of Cami's life. Technically three, if you count Cami getting the twins and Lorex's death as separate scenes, but still. Was I going to have visions from now on?
I decided to ignore these thoughts as I grabbed the arrow I got for my birthday. I'd have to ask if it was okay for me to shoot later. I want to test it out.
I then grabbed the note I got with the two presents. I opened it up, and saw a traditional celebratory letter, a personalized letter from my parents that I would read tomorrow, my actual birthday, and another note that continued onto the back.
I flipped the note over to check who the third message was from, and I choked on air.
The third and last message was signed in beautiful cursive. And it spelled out a name I had been called multiple times since coming here.
Cami.
