Ella's PoV
I took in a breath to calm myself. Shivers of shock cascaded down me as I reread the name to make sure my eyes didn't deceive me.
Cami.
Was this a joke, or did Cami actually write me something?
I blinked a few times before forcing myself to relax. It was probably nothing, right?
My eyes swept over the greeting.
Dear Ella, Isis, and Iona;
First of all, how are my two beautiful wolves doing? I was surprised when you two regenerated so quickly. I hope you're doing well!
Next thing: Ella, watch out for the little things. They could end up being life savers.
Sadly, that's all I'm allowed to say or else the future will completely go out of whack and everything will mess up and we all will probably die due to a huge spirit battle and yada yada blah blah. The point is, I can't say much.
Anyways, good luck!
Love,
Cami
I heard Isis and Iona mumbling, but I couldn't make out words. I gave up eavesdropping on them when I realized I had a minute until dinner.
Bursting out of my room, I saw no one nearby.
"Gee. Thanks for the lack of direction to the destination of the food." I muttered, my face twisted into an exasperated scowl.
I sniffed around, but the scent of food was wafting around everywhere.
I decided to choose a direction and hope for the best.
I turned right and started walking. The food scent was overpowering now.
There was a blast of steak scented air that flew into my face as I opened double doors into the extravagant... kitchen.
A whole bunch of cooks stopped what they were doing and stared questionably at me as I awkwardly shuffled backwards into the hallway.
I grunted in pain as I hit a wall. I thought I was going directly backwards!
Turning around, I found that I was, in fact, moving backwards in a straight line. The wall, otherwise known as Sahnn, chuckled.
"Having a bit of trouble?"
I scowled. "You guys didn't tell me how I get to dinner!"
Sahnn rolled his eyes. "We didn't expect you to try to find it on your own. I was supposed to come in and get you."
"You should've told me that you were going to come get me!"
Staying silent, Sahnn motioned for me to follow him. I let out an irritated growl and followed him to a beautiful dining room with about two hundred wolves in it.
All two hundred pairs of eyes turned to me.
Awkward.
After about thirty seconds of awkward silence and staring, everyone started turning back to each other.
Sahnn pointed me to a seat at one of the further tables. I was next to Patil and another wolf.
As soon as I sat down, Sahnn turned to another table and took a seat there, leaving me to fend off everyone's gazes alone.
Dinner was good. Venison and garlic mashed potatoes.
I didn't talk much, but I think that was due to everyone else's timidness rather than my own. I mean, I was practically a goddess in their sights.
After dinner, everyone started shifting. I looked questionably at Patil, but he simply said, "I hope you're ready to officially join the pack. Stay in human form."
With that, Patil shifted into his black wolf. He yipped a command, and everyone else, who had also shifted into their wolves, started to run off, all the wolves combining into one swift body.
I was too busy admiring the beauty of the pack's formation that I didn't realize I was being left behind.
Running after them, I sprinted off into the forest, leaping over logs and small streams. When I finally caught up, I was out of breath.
Soon after I caught up, the pack reached a strange set of ruins. One black wolf left the grass to stand on the ruin's cracked stone foundation. The wolves parted right in front of me, as if signaling that I should join the black wolf.
I walked to the ruins, and the second I stepped on the stone, the scenery changed. The ruins seemed to righten themselves, showing a beautiful fountain with a small garden surrounding it.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
I turned around to see that Patil had spoken in wolf form.
"How did you do that?" I asked, referring to his sudden ability to speak in wolf form.
He shrugged. "It's part of the magic of this place, I guess. Now, stand over there." He motioned with his tail towards a patch of stone that had been bleached in the moonlight.
Once I stepped under the moon's white gaze, I felt an icy calm as I felt raw power blaze down upon me. I felt my bones cracking involuntarily, and I gasped when I saw that the fur growing from my right hand was completely different than the fur growing on my left.
I was shifting into both twins at the same time.
Patil howled, and the rest of the pack joined in with him. Isis and Iona were explaining that that specific patch of moonlight did this, and that I couldn't shift into both wolves at once again.
I started to ignore them as I looked out into the crowd of wolves, standing right outside the stone foundation. I was surprised, though, because I could only smell Patil. Probably the magic.
Suddenly, another black wolf with dark blue eyes glittering with hate snuck into the ruins. I couldn't smell anything, so I assumed I was imagining things.
That was until the wolf turned human. I only caught a glimpse of slightly pale skin and short dark hair.
Then, the explosions started.
**********
I'm so exhausted. I'm back from a month of camp with a sinus infection and an ear infection.
Honestly, I'm surprised I actually managed to write a decent sized chapter.
Either way, how do you guys like the story? Who do you think that person is? Is it someone you know, or someone you will come to know?
Please comment. Comments make my day, especially if they're good (comments on how to make this story better are great, too, but please keep them positive! I'm stressed out enough).
Anyway...
