"hey" devin smiled as she takes one last drag of her cigarette and throws it on the ground stumping it over as she walks over to her friend xander
he walks over to her and they dap each other up
"smoking without me huh" he looks at her
"got bored waiting for you" she smiles
"ready for our last trip to the parking lot together"
"hey! dont say that,i'll come to visit soon"
"i'll miss you dev"
"i'll miss you too xan"

they talk while walking to the lot
once they reach,they take a seat at their usual spot and xander gets his stuff out to roll some cigarettes for them
"i'll miss this more than you" devin says as he hands her the cigarette
"you better not find a substitute for me"
"even if i wanted to i couldnt" devin says taking a drag
"you know what sucks? i'll actually have to go to school,my nana is very strict about that"
"good luck with that" xander chuckles
"at least she wont try to kick me out" devin shrugs
and xander returns a look agreeing with her

"good morning baby" devins nana wakes her up
"good morning nans" devin gets off the bed to give her a hug
"you should get ready,i'll make you some breakfast and the keys to the car" she smiles at devin
"thanks nana"
devin quickly gets ready,shes never really taken time to get ready,she throws on the first thing she sees and gets down
"here baby" nana says passing her a plate of eggos
"thanks nana" devin sits down and looks at her plate
she takes a few bites and gets up
"you done?"
"yup,i usually dont have an appetite in the morning"
"okay bubba,take care and have a good day"
devin smiles getting out of the house walking to her nanas car
she gets in and opens google maps to her new school
as she drives to school she listens to her playlist
and thanks the universe for turning her life into something she can appreciate

shes now parked outside
looking at the board that says
"sommerville high"
before getting out she opens her bag and takes out a cigarette
she takes a few drags,when she was distracted by the car that comes and parks next to her
music was blasting,and from what she could see there were 5 people in it
it was more like a mini van
the guy driving it turns of the engine and they all get out
she looks down at her cigarette which was almost burned out and sighs getting out of the car

she walks to her first period-math
and goes to sit on the last bench
"hey" she looks at the person calling her
"hey" she answers as she watches the girl come and sit next to her
"im alahna" she smiles
"devin"
devin was never the type to socialise,especially not in this new town.

it was lunch time,and devin didnt know where to go.
but she also did know where exactly she spent most of her time with xander at her old school
she walked to find the bleachers,and then to find the little corner behind it.
she sat in the very corner,ready to light up the cigarette between her lips
"hey?"
she shoots her head up to see a boy
brunette,tall,blue eyes
she gave him a look,thinking about why people in this school just wanna talk
"yea?"
"what're you doing here"
"i can ask you the same" she looks at him
"this is my spot?"
"i go to this school too?"
"but ive been here longer,i know you're the new girl"
"i dont care,find a new spot" she looks back at her cig and lights it up
matt subtly flips her off,walking away to the lunch table he's supposed to be at

he sits beside nate,across chris
"WOOO MATTS HERE FOR LUNCH" nate shouts taking matt into a side hug
it wasn't like matt never sat at the table with his friends and brothers,but it also wasn't like he always did.
some days were just bad for him,nothing bad happens but his gut (anxiety) made him feel that way
"matt what happened you look mad" nick asks
"yea what happened matty" chris says holding his hands,matt pushes them.
"im fine" he replies
"do you guys know the new girl by any chance?" matt asks looking up at the group
"who? devin?" alahna replies to matt
"devin..."

devin was walking to her last period-geography
she sat on the bench she saw was empty
and immediately put her head down on the desk
"hey"
"what" devin almost yelled looking at the person next to her
"oh! im nick,you must be devin"
"i think ive seen you"
"it was probably one of my brothers,we kinda look alike" he shrugs
"well,hi nick" she sighs looking at the board
"you seem cool,i'd like to be friends with you"
"well you think wrong because i am not at all cool" she replies still looking forward
"oh come on" nick says putting his hand out
devin looks down at it,and back up at nick
his smile might be the most genuine one anyones given to her in months.
"fine,fine" she smiles at him,he seems like good person.

the triplets,alahna and nate were walking to the van when matt noticed the new girl walk past them to what seems like is her car
nick chris and alahna were currently arguing about something in the parking lot
as matt stares at the girl,getting inside and the first thing she does is light a cigarette
as she takes a drag he looks at how dependent she seems on it
hes seen alot of people smoke before.
but she seemed liked she needed it.
needed it bad.
