"so what are we doing for your birthday?" alahna asked the triplets on the table
"wait when is it?" devin frowns
"first" nate answered
"FIRST OF AUGUST?"
"yep" nick said
"so what ARE we doing?" devin asked
"nothing we were just planning to hang with you guys and madi and laura,theyre flying from la" chris answered
"who're they?" devin asked
"our manager and her daughter,who happens to be our best friend too" nick said
"okay,i can get around with that" devin said going back on her phone
"devin,we've got human resources" matt got up
"yep im coming" devin got up,eyes still on her phone

matt and devin start walking to their class.
"get off your phone goddamn it" matt snatched her phone
"matt,give my phone back" devin got a little defensive
"why? so you can text your boyfriend through class?"
"my boyfriend?" devin frowned
worried.
"xander" matt raises his brows too
"hes not my boyfriend" devin makes a face.
was that convincing?
she thinks.
"but you still like him"
"the fuck do you care" devin hands are asking the question for her
"i dont." matt gave her phone back and started walking ahead
devin catches up to him and pull his hand to make him look at her
"why are you being such a bitch?" she asked
matt stayed silent still figuring out what to say
"nothing,i just...im just a little tired im sorry"
devin looked at him for like 30 seconds
he does look tired.
her eyes soften
"hey" devin pulls on the hand shes still holding
"its okay,alright? wanna go hang by the bleachers?" she asks
"class?"
"we're already very late so" she shrugs
a smile forms on matts face
"okay" he nods
devin lets go off his hands and starts walking
matt rubs his hands together.
he feels comforted.

"i haven't seen you smoke since you got back" matt said as he watched devin smoke into the air as they sit on the grass
"yea? you're saying that like it was an everyday thing"
"hey! it did become an everyday thing,i got used to it"
"anyways im trying to cut down smoking"
"really? thats great"
"yea yea now dont get sappy"
"when is your birthday?" matt asked out of nowhere
devin chuckled before answering
"21 september"
"im almost two months older" matt acts proud
"shut up" devin smiled
"wanna go for a ride?"
"lets go" devin grabs her back and gets up

"i like your sweatshirt" devin compliments as matt drives them to who knows where
matt immediately looks down at what hes wearing,he knows what,but it was an intinct
"i like it too,blue is my favourite colour" he replied
"no way,same"
"really? what shade"
"i like the darker shades but the lighter ones make me so happy i dont know" she gets descriptive
matts never seen this side of devin.
he kinda loves it.
"wanna stop by and get some candies maybe some chips AND OH SODA" matt asks
"yes please" devin nods

they enter a 7 eleven and grab stuff they want
devin has a redbull and a pack of skittles in her hand as she watches matt get stuff like water bottles and a bunch of pepsis to keep the car for later for when hes with his brothers
devin gets to the counter and checks her stuff in
the counter guy with curly hair and blue eyes smiles at her
"that'll be 6 dollars and your number" he smirks as he hands her the bill
"hu-" devin didnt get to finish.
matt stepped in grabbing the bill from the counter guy
"and i'll take that thank you" he gives his stuff and his card to the guy
"what are you doing?" devin looks at him
"paying for your stuff,like the good boyfriend i am" he says
"matt-"
"thank you sir" counter guy cuts devin off again as he hands matt his card the bag with all their stuff
"lets go dev" matt takes his free hand grabs devins'
they walk out of the 7 eleven.
"i owe you two" devin says as theyre still walking,hands aligned
"for?" matt looks at her and frowns
"the stuff and saving me from that douche"
"you dont owe me shit,im your boyfriend for fucks sake" matt jokes
"should i be thanking you?" devin asked ACTUALLY confused because shes never been in this situation before
"yea definitely" matt says walking over to the passenger seat and opening the door for her and signalling her to get in
he sat in the drivers seat.
"thanks i guess" devin says before he starts the car
"your welcome babe" matt says sarcastically
"shut up" devin says searching for the redbull in the bag

matt and devin sit in the car joking about stuff.
parked somewhere they dont know.
"yea that was a big fall" matt says between his chuckles
"i can't believe you fell in a fucking fountain" devin said laughing very loud
"you know plenty about me,i literally feel like i just know you name" matt spoke
"you know my age,my favourite colour,heck you've been to my house" devin counts while sipping on her drink
"im not talking about stuff like that you know it"
"okay then what do you wanna know?"
"idk,just your childhood and stuff in general" matt shrugged
"my childhood was fucked up,dad died when i was pretty young,moms bipolar,she kicks me out for no reason when shes feeling low,also an alcoholic,which reminds me shes bugging me to get back home so idk theres alot of fucked up shit" devin shrugged
she said all that so casually,it concerned matt
"and you're okay?" matt frowned
"yea ive learned to cope up"

matts adoration for the girl increased.
she's so lighthearted but still so fucking strong
and so fucking beautiful.
"you know ironically youre the only one here that i've actually spent time with or shared any of this stuff with" devin looks at him
matts breathe hitched.
hes pretty fucking satisfied with this sentence
"yea-uh i like that" he said
devin looks at him as she goes to light a cigarette between her lips,
she removes the cigarette
"me too"
and puts it back between her lips.
"and i also like being your fake boyfriend" matt smiles
devin laughs,smoke coming out of her mouth
"i like being your fake girlfriend too matthew" she takes another drag.
