devins walks inside the school crushing a cigarette on the lid of the bin outside the building
she looks at her schedule and sees that her first period is human resources
she likes human resources.
she walks to her locker putting her stuff in before walking to class
as she walks to class she realises shes already late.
shes running to it now.
the teacher stops her from entering
"hello,ms..." the teacher clearly not knowing devins name speaks
"browne,devin browne"
"ms browne care to explain why you're *looks at watch* 8 minutes late?"
"i had some issues with my car" she shrugs
"its your first time so i'm letting you go,now take a seat next to mr sturniolo"
devin walks to the seat pointed to hopefully see nick and maybe he could help lighten her mood
"hi" she speaks looking forward not paying attention to the guy beside her
"hey?"
"i already don't like this teacher"
"he's actually my favourite"
"what? he's clearly a bitch"
"you know i can go complain about this right?"
"wha-" devin finally looks at the boy
"you- you aren't nick"
"definitely not nick" matt says turning to the board
"you're the bitchy one"
matt glares at her
"i'm matt"
"didn't ask"
devin says not batting an eye at him

matt would be lying if he said he didnt look at her a few times through the class
he thought she smelled nice.
thats it.
he's not attracted to her in any way.
its just her smell that makes him look at her every few minutes.
at least he thinks so.

the class ends and devin is met by nick and alahna by her locker
"HEY!"
"hi" she says kinda unenthusiastically
"aren't you happy to see me" nick says
"i was"
"what do you mean"
"i entered my human resources class,and got yelled at for being late and then i was sat by your brother who i thought was you and then i realised no its not! its the bitchy one"
"which brother are you talking about?" alahna asks
"he said his names matt"
"matt is not the bitchy one,neither is chris but what did he do" nick says
"he just doesn't like me i guess?" devin shrugs taking her books out of the locker
"its actually unlikely for matt to dislike someone so quickly" nick answers
"whatever" she shrugs
"NICK COME ON WE GOT ALGEBRA"
"chris bro stop screaming"
two guys walk up to nick and alahna
"chris nate,this is devin,devin chris and nate"
"hey" devin waves
"you're with me right? math?" alahna asks devin
"yeah"
with that the two girls just walk to their class

"you should sit with us at lunch,it'll be so fun"
"eh" devin replies to alahna as they're sat on their bench
"come on! lets get to know each other better"
devin looks at her and sighs
"yayyy" alahna flashes a smile which makes devin smile too.

devin walks into the cafeteria and hears alahna call her name out to her left
she looks to see the triplets alahna and nate sat there
she walks upto them,taking a deep breathe
shes never really had a proper friend group,as cliche as it sounds,everybody just sorta leaves her.
she goes to the table and nick pats on the seat next to him
she goes up to sit next to him,facing matt
"hey devin,we weren't introduced properly im chris" he lets out his hand for what seemed like a shake but ended up dapping her
"im nate,again" he daps her up too and devin chuckles

"where did you move from?" nate asks her
"texas"
"i can hear your accent sometimes" nick says putting a fry in his mouth
"really? i dont think i have one"
"you sure do"

the table jokes around,while matt being on the table just stares at everyone
or just devin
he doesn't think theres something mesmerising about her.
he doesn't think theres an aura to her he likes.
he doesn't feel like asking her why she smokes.
or perhaps he is just convincing himself he doesn't.

"YOU KNOW WHAT WE SHOULD DO?" nate suggests
"WHAT" nick replies
"game night,this saturday"
"oh you guys better get ready to get your asses beat" chris acts cocky
"im good at pretty much all the games so i dont have none to worry" devin shrugs
"we'll see about that"
