'Hey Belle, come for a quick surf?' I groaned grumpily hearing my phone buzz next to my pillow. I had just gotten off work and was looking forward to a nice afternoon of sleeping, which was soon interrupted when I received the above text from Dane. 'Dude you just interrupted my nap' I replied quickly, my phone buzzed instantly with his response and I rolled my eyes, he wasn't going to let me sleep until I joined him on the beach. Slipping on my bikini under my grey wet suit, I ran upstairs notifying my parents of what I was doing before I headed off, carting my board under my arm i made my way outside. I had been surfing for years, not that I was amazing at it, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly, hard not too when you lived so close to the beach. I jogged through the beach entrance across the road and saw Danes lone figure waiting on the sand. I began to run, towards the water, shooting straight past him. I heard him yelp, surprised by my sudden appearance. I let out an excited yell and crashed into the ocean, gliding over the water on my board. "My gosh, dude you gave me a heart attack!" Dane exclaimed paddling towards me, I grinned at him and splashed him playfully. "I know, I'm talented" I said winking, "Okay now, I challenge you to a game of SURF" He grinned before splashing me back "You're on sister".

Now, quick explanation: SURF is a game Dane and I have been playing for years, basically one person starts off in a set and does a trick and the person after them have to execute the same trick perfectly. If any mistakes are made or if the second person falls off their board they get a letter. The person who spells out the word SURF first looses. Capiche'?

An hour later Dane and I walked in, I grumbled quietly to myself as Dane bragged about his win. "Ah yes, add that one to the list of wins for Danos, whats that like one hundred and ninety-eight to one hundred and eighty-five? Girl, you need to pick up your game!" I rolled my eyes before shoving him lightly. "Whatever man, I beat you last year okay" I bragged "Pfft whatever" he stated peeling his wetsuit from his body, until the arms hung at his waist. I did the same with my own, thanking myself for deciding to wear a bikini. I felt Danes eyes on my and flushed deeply as I found him starring. "Hmmm," he said in a curious tone, flipping his wet, salty hair from his face "is that bikini new?" I rolled my eyes, "Yes Danos, it sure is" He grinned at me pulling me down to sit next to him on the towels, the descending evening sun beating down on us "I like it" he stated bluntly. I turned to look at him, grabbing the water bottle he held out to me. We sat in comfortable silence. Watching as the sun began to set. I snuck another look at Dane, and couldn't help staring. His now only slightly damp hair hung framing his face, his perfectly chiseled jaw was lit by the orange glow of the sunset and his eyes reflected the water he was staring at so intensely. I have to say, in that moment I realised how beautiful Dane actually was. I know, I know, beautiful sounds girly. But it is the only word in the human vocabulary to describe the image before me. He shone with radiance, and it hit me so hard that I was forced to turn away, face burning. Shaking myself quietly I let out a sigh watching as the ocean turned to a sea of gold. The orange, pink and yellow of the sunset reflected vividly onto the waves. "Damn, wish I could paint this" I mumbled in awe. "You always could you know, the sunset does happen more then once" Dane stated playfully bumbing his shoulder against ming. I rolled my eyes, "You know what I mean, Idiot" He laughed lightly before clearing his throat "So, what do you think of Christian?" he asked somewhat awkwardly. I turned to face him, only to see him tracing a pattern in the golden sand next to him. "He's okay, really hot. Seem's pretty cool as well" Dane looked up at me studying me closely, "Really? Cos' Hayles said you might like him". I felt a blush highlight my cheeks and groaned inwardly before answering. "Well, nah I dont like him, but I think I could, ya know in the future or something, I mean, he just got here uhhh" I stopped realising I was rambling. Dane grinned at me, "Oooo, someones got a crusshhh" I bumped him lightly with my shoulder "Shutup, its not a crush" I stated before letting out a large yawn. Dane got up suddenly, holding his hand out to pull me up. "Let's get you home little girl, I think its past your bed time" he said grabbing both of our surfboards. Man, he knew me too damn well.
