I switched seats with Christian for the remainder of the trip, headphones on ignoring the chatter floating around me. As I watched the trees blur outside of my window I thought about my argument with Dane. It was a rare occasion that Dane and I ever fought, we normally always got along and found arguing to be a waste of both time and energy, however I had noticed that recently we were finding more and more to fight over. I let out a sigh against the window, and closed my eyes as Lana Del Rey's Summer Time Sadness came on and smiled sarcastically to myself, how appropriate.

By the time the four of us arrived at SouthShore I was in better spirits, refusing to allow Dane and I's falling out to get to me. I jumped out of the car and grabbed my bags heading into the forest area that we had to walk through before getting to our camping spot. Christian and Chris followed closely behind whereas Dane took his time before coming over. I took a breath of the fresh air, filling my lungs with the scent of the salty ocean and the pine trees. The common camping area was in the middle of one of the biggest pine forest's in the area and was just a five minute walk from the beach. South Shore was an extremely well known camping ground however when Dane and I were eleven, and Chris ten we were on a camping trip with both of our families and wondered down unknowingly to what would later become our special place and claimed it as our own little private haven. It was situated at the border of the pine trees and the beginning of the sand, just out of reach from the water when it was at high tide. Later that same day Dane, Chris and I carved our names crudely on the biggest pine tree we could find on the border as a promise of our friendship and the ownership of our new 'spot', underneath the two of our names Christopher had tried to write his name as best as his little hands could. As Chris, Dane, Christian and I neared our little place I stopped next to the tree and ran my hand over Dane and My deeply carved names and Chris' faded though still visible 'Christofer' underneath. This spot was ours, and we were sharing it with our best friends to enjoy and make memories I decided then, not to allow Dane to get to me and just to have fun on this trip. I let out a breath and and walked determinedly over to our opening and dumped my bags down in a huff. "Ugh all that walking was just so damn tiring, Dane did you give Hayley and everybody else directions?" I said speaking to him for the first time in an hour. He looked over at me, brushing his hair out of his eyes hesitantly before speaking, "Yeah I did, but I'll go down to the parking lot, and meet them there so they dont get lost" I nodded and turned to Christian who sat down next to me. I could feel Danes eyes on the two of us but chose to ignore it. "So Christian, this is our spot," I said gesturing around me "What do you think?" I asked studying him, his bags were placed next to him and he was lying down propped up by his elbows looking at the sky that was framed by the pine leaves from the tall trees. He turned to face me and grinned "I love it, its so peaceful" he was right. This spot unlike the common campgrounds was quiet there were no children running about screaming, no litter as our spot was always kept clean and tidy. The only sound that could be heard was the sound of the waves crashing, the soft breeze flowing through the pine needles, birds chirping and occasionally the sound of Danes guitar as he strummed away expertly. Christians voice snapped me out of my thoughts "You guys must have a lot of memories here" I smiled fondly as i recalled many memories of the three of us when we were younger running through the pine needles, throwing them at each other, learning to surf at the little beach. "Yeah, we sure do" I said thoughtfully. Chris came and sat next to the two of us, "Oh if you wanna hear about memories, you should hear the about the time Dane and I put a worm in Belles spaghetti and she almost ate it" he said mischievously. Letting out a groan I hit him playfully as Christian let out a laugh. "Or about the time when Belle and I told darling Chris here a ghost story and he refused to leave his tent for the next two days" Dane chimed in sitting on my other side. I grinned at him, knowing he wasn't angry anymore. "Hey, what happened to bro's before h-" I interrupted Danes whine session with a stern look "Don't you dare finish that sentence Christopher or I will tell everyone about the spider incident" I warned emphasising the word 'everyone' so he knew I was talking about Hayley. That shut him up. Dane and Christian burst out laughing and Chris and I eventually joined in. I knew that this was just the beginning of a long weekend that was going to be filled with more laughter and happiness then I had experienced for a while. And I couldn't wait.
