No one's pov

After what Max had done word got out and everyone knew not to mess with him.

Max's POV

I was sitting at a bar having a quiet drink seems my son had left home and Matt had gone to griffin and Ben I was all alone. "Max voight the famous and rich singer has just released his album lonely today" "I wish I could do what he does" I look at my bartender "trust me it's a hard life to live" I finished off the last mouth full of whiskey "you're probably right it would be too hard" I paid out my tab "so the same tomorrow Max" "I'll see ya later Mike" I walked out of his bar and into the cold air.

I had just walked into the district for the morning of a new day. I walked upstairs seems Trudy wasn't in yet. I love making some good fucking coffee in my little office "so this is where the good coffee is" I look up to see dad "you got a cup on you" he hands over a cup saying grandpa of the year on it "your son got that for me" I hand him back his cup filled with coffee now "so you and Jay talking over what" "we talk now and again for work but that's it" I walk to the coffee machine to make me a cup of coffee "why don't you give him a second shot" I look at dad with a what the fuck you said look "he's trying here son and I would feel much better if I knew you were with someone who makes you happy" "how can I just forgive him for what he did and what happens if Erin starts with him" I pour some whiskey in my coffee "just try please son just try and if you still can't then" "fine I'll do it but if there's nothing there you drop it" I walked past him and upstairs.

When I get to the bull pin I see most of the crew there I walk over to Jay's desk "you want to come for a ride" he got up straight away without no question. When we got in my truck he looks at me "ok where are we going" I turn the truck on "for a ride" " a man of a few words" I pulled out of the parking lot "just give me a hint please" "you know how you have been working with Dante Torres" "yea I remember" I turned down a street with no name "sergeant voight wants someone to take my spot and I said it has to be Dante Torres or no one" I pulled over the truck "so what are we doing here" "just give it a moment" that's when the door opens and closes "drive Max" I put my foot on the gas "here you go Torres load that up for me please" I hand him double barrel sawn off shotgun "why the hell do you have that Max" I get the gun back "keep your fucking heads down" Dante does as told but Jay keeps his head up "well if you're not going to listen then grab a gun out of the glovebox" we started shooting and driving away from that area.

I knew we would get a ear filled from dad when we got back to the district. "What the hell is wrong with yous all yous just started a gang war" I lit up a cigarette "me and Jay did as you asked we picked up Dante Torres and there was shots fired but we were defending are lives hell they came at us with machine guns and grenades" I put out my cigarette "and don't forget we did this because we had to so don't put the blame on us put it on yourself" "get out Max you're done with work for today" I started to walk away "fine by me" "and don't bother coming in for a while" I just kept walking.

It was around nine o'clock at night and this house is so quiet without Matt or my son. I was just sitting there watching some romance movies on Netflix because I didn't really have anything to do. I got my lazy ass off of the couch and poured myself another glass of whiskey when there was a knock at the door, I grabbed my shotgun when I got up to the door and open it I could see Jay standing there "do you always have to answer the door with a shotgun" I out the shotgun down besides my leg "do you want to come in or what" I open the door for him "hell this place feels like home" he sat down on the couch and put his arms on the back of the couch with his feet up on the coffee table "you want a drink" "I'll have whatever you're having" I get a whiskey and two beers "so Max how are you doing" I look at him "I don't know I kill the two bastards who shot me and that woman and I leave here all alone again" I started to cry "I miss having my son living here or Matt being here in Chicago" I feel a arm go over my shoulders

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads

"Now that should be your next single" I look at Jay "I would like to have if you're going through hell"

Well you know those times when you feel like
There's a sign there on your back
That says I don't mind if you kick me, seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You think it can't get worse than that
And then they do

You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Used the needle of your compass, to sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie in a bottle of jim beam
And she lies to you
That's when you learn the truth

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

I've been deep down in that darkness
I've been down to my last match
Felt a hundred different demons breathin' fire down my back
And I knew that if I stumbled I'd fall right into the trap
That they were layin'

But the good news is there's angels everywhere out on the street
Holdin' out a hand to pull you back up on your feet
The one's that you've been draggin' for so long
You're on your knees might as well be prayin'
Guess what I'm sayin'

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
Yeah if you're goin' through hell keep on movin'
Face that fire walk right through it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
Yeah if you're goin' through hell keep on movin'
Face that fire walk right through it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
