"Darling?"

Alastor's voice, smooth as silk, pulled your thoughts back down from orbit as he spoke lowly by your ear. You were already seated close, practically on his lap as your chair couldn't have been any closer to his own. His arm rest comfortably behind you on the backrest of your seat, allowing you to be right at his side. When he spoke it almost sent a chill up your back, feeling his warm breath against the nape of your neck.

"Hmm?" You hummed politely. Turning your head slightly to hear him better over the loud chatter of the room.

"What did the ocean say to the sand?" He asked with a smirk.

You chuckled and shook your head while Alastor took a sip of his drink. Waiting for you to say something before delivering the punchline. You didn't know if it was his good mood or the fact that you both had drank a lot of champagne by now, but he had been sharing jokes with you on and off for the last hour.

He said he wanted to begin a new little segment where he ends each morning broadcast with a joke, and he was trying out his material on you before starting it at the radio station.

"I don't know," you smiled. Turning your head fully to face him, both of you comfortable with the mere inches of space between his face and your own. "What?"

"Nothing." He chuckled. "It just waved!"

"Pffff-" you snickered, grinning from ear to ear as you polished off the last sip within your glass. "Where do you come up with these?"

You felt him shrug.

"I've had a lot of time to write my own material," he said with a pleasant sigh. "Plus some I've just heard over the years."

"Well you're very funny."

"Blush~," he chuckled again. "I'm glad you think so my dear. Are you having fun so far? May I get you another drink?"

"This was my... fourth? Third? Fourth...?"

"Fourth, dear."

"Fourth glass," you giggled. "How much do you think I can handle?"

Sitting upright in your chair you pulled away from him a little bit. Still smiling contently, feeling comfortably at the mercy of the champagne. Alastor had almost forgotten you didn't have the tolerance that he himself had, and nodded in understanding. Releasing a soft laugh at your giggly, bubbly state.

"True, you're already coming home with me so I suppose there's really no need to get you plastered." He teased. Spurring another little laugh from you as shades of pink dusted your cheeks.

"Yes, I'm having fun." You answered honestly as your laughter quieted. "But that is just 'cause you're with me."

"Oh?" He mused, raising a brow. "You wouldn't rather be off with Vic right now?"

Al gestured with his index, the rest of his fingers curled around the thin stem of his champagne glass as he pointed over in the man's direction. Currently talking to a few older gentlemen on the other side of the large room.

Alastor snickered again when you playfully smacked his arm for making such a comment.

"Will you stop it?" You laughed. "You're so jealous it's ridiculous."
