"I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream..."
You sang softly to yourself with a gentle smile on your face. Setting down three shots of patron for the table that ordered them before going over to deliver two beers and a dozen chicken wings to the next one in your section.
"I know you, that gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam."
Demons who heard you (not an easy feat in such a loud and crowded place) couldn't help but be spellbound as they heard your voice. Getting heart-eyes and sighing wistfully in your direction as you went along your merry way. Unsure of what came over them, but unable to fight their interest.
You didn't mean to. You didn't even really know, you hardly ever sang at work or in public at all. And when you did, you thought nothing of it when people would be up your ass after; that just came with the territory of your job.
"And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem..."
The night prior went over splendidly. You and Alastor must have stayed up until two or three in the morning. You felt worse for him, seeing as he had to get up early in the morning for work and you didn't have to be anywhere until five in the evening. But he wasn't complaining.
He found it rather cute, you had the TV on and were snuggled up on the couch. Conversing here and there, and as the hours ticked by you began to yawn. Your eyelids became heavy. And soon before you realized it, you had fallen asleep in his arms. He had only realized it when your breathing slowed, and your body seemed to relax completely against him.
He merely just carried you over to your bed and tucked you in before climbing in next to you. Holding you close, kissing you on the cheek, and dozing off before it was time for him to leave.
His tail wagging contently until he finally drifted off to sleep.
"But if I know you, I know what you'll do~!"
'Our first of many nights, after what feels like an eternity.' He had told you. 'And I'll be with you again tomorrow.'
"You'll love me at once..."
"Honey Bunny?"
"The way you did-"
"Bunny?"
"...-once upon a dream."
"Y/n!!"
" W h a t??" You hissed. Turning on a dime and facing your colleague on the other side of the counter. A little red in the face, slightly embarrassed to be caught daydreaming.
"I need you to cover for me while I go on break." She huffed.
"What do you mean?" You asked, a little bewildered. "Where's Ruby?"
She shrugged her shoulders and gave you a defeated look. "I think she walked out. That or, something happened."
"Yikes..." you winced. "Alright, let me just bring these over to table twelve and I'll be back. Who's gonna cover for me?"
"Diamond said she's gonna fill in. I got her to come in early, she's in the back right now."
Okay, you mouthed silently to yourself. Strutting off to deliver another round of beers and mixed drinks before taking over at the bar. You had bartended on occasion, and were well-versed enough to do it well. But rare did you have to fill in for anybody.
Wherever Ruby was, you didn't envy her. She was either Vox's problem now or she was about to be.
"Alrighty," you sighed. Squeezing past the short door to access behind the bar. Looking up at the next new couple who approached with a few dollars in cash in their hands. "What's your poison?"
