~~~~~~dream sequence~~~~~~
It was dark.
You couldn't see a thing, not even your hand in front of your face. Reaching out at full arm extension, your fingertips brushed against some sort of textured barricade or wall. It felt dusty and cold, with several smooth grooves.
It was hard to breathe. The air felt so heavy and stale, it seemed to make your breathing hitch within your throat.
You blinked hard. Squeezing your eyes shut and opening them wide in some vain attempt to see something in the pitch void that engulfed you. Darkness like this almost shouldn't feel possible, it was dizzying. You felt so lost in it you couldn't even tell your up from down.
Time didn't seem to exist wherever you were. It could have been seconds or hours that you wandered into the darkness. Feeling your way along the strange walls, feeling helplessly blind to the environment you were in. Searching for a destination that you weren't guaranteed to find, not even sure when or why you came here.
'How did I get here?' You wondered. 'How do I get out?'
"Do you resent me yet?" A voice asked. Startling you despite the quiet volume it was spoken in.
The voice was one you hadn't heard in ages -in person, anyway.
A familiar, smooth tone that sent violent chills up your spine. The hair on the back of your neck standing on end, your flesh prickling with goosebumps.
"Alastor...?" You asked. Looking around frantically but only met with the sea of black that surrounded you from every angle.
You couldn't even tell where his voice was coming from. It was impossible to tell, it just came from anywhere and everywhere.
"Such a pity our flame fizzled out the way it did." He said. Sounding somewhat closer, however the direction it came from was still indistinguishable. "You were certainly a favorite."
You felt anger and sadness swelling in your chest. Burning up into your throat and searing behind your eyes. Even mental images weren't visible to you, but in every memory you still felt the way his skin brushed against your own. You could still smell his scent, the faint aroma of his cologne just lingering in the back of your head.
You missed him. Even though your stomach turned with rage, all you wanted was to curl up and seek comfort from him.
"Why?" You asked. "Why would you have done this to me...?"
A laugh broke the quietude once more.
"Because it was easy." He said.
That stung...
"Don't be so surprised. We had our parts and played them well." He continued. "Bravo, my dear. I almost felt bad for you when they took you away. You must have been so helpless."
'Why...?' You wondered. 'Why is he like this?? I don't want to believe it... this can't be real... I don't want it to be real...!'
"Thank you for the entertainment you provided, sweet pea."
Furrowing a brow, you tried to look around once more. Even though your attempts to see were futile. 'He never called me that...' you thought.
Disrupting your thoughts was the faintest sound, what you could only describe as electricity whirring. Like a surge going through wire.
Within the darkness you squinted once more. And along the perimeter below you was what looked like blue sparks. Sometimes traveling in a short line but other times just the little burst of light.
