"KILLER OF THE NIGHT STRIKES AGAIN!
TAKES TWO LIVES -AND A FACE"

"Authorities are left baffled -and appalled- once again. Witnesses and first responders reported two hideously mutilated bodies found only a block apart from one another. Amongst the remains of one man was the face of none other than the other victim whom was presumed to have been attacked first not far away. The identities of the individuals are being kept confidential out of respect for the families.
No weapons were recovered from the scenes nor are there any suspects at the present time. The homicides are still currently being investigated as well as the other recent string of murders. Whether they're all connected is yet to be confirmed.
In the meantime it is heavily advised that you close-up shops earlier and head somewhere safe indoors before nightfall. Never travel alone, avoid going outside after dark, and always be on the lookout- even in broad daylight."

"Gah... How does one have the stomach for that?" You grimaced.

Alastor shrugged, and shook his head as he set the newspaper back down on the table. "I've not a clue, darling." He answered, exchanging the paper for his cup of coffee and raised it to his lips.

Alastor didn't have to work today.

You liked these days a lot.

Mostly because it meant you didn't have to do a lot of housework unless you were helping him with something. But, also because his company was appreciated.

Generally he was a little more laid back on days where he needn't worry too much about work related things- his day job or otherwise. So while he was pleasant to be around any other time, it was a more comfortable sort of tone for the day. Relaxed. Easy.

Which was especially nice after such a late evening the night prior. Alastor was still a little sore about his associates comments about you, and he was not planning on telling you about Dante's thoughts either. He didn't want to enrage you with such pervasive comments, even if he wasn't the one who made them.

He'd also hesitate to admit that Dante may have gotten in his head a little. Al had thought about it in brief passing before -as he had said, but after you went to bed for the night he found himself almost incapable of shuffling off some rather... impure thoughts.

Nevertheless, he'd never stoop so low as to push something of the sort onto you if you weren't mutually interested. Not even just the physical aspect, but something more emotionally invested as well. And given his lack of experience in both areas, he was certainly shy about asking you your thoughts on the matter. So he decided to just leave it be and let whatever happens between you two to happen organically.

Things seemed like they were going in a good direction anyway. You certainly seemed happy to share his company, and he returned the feeling earnestly.

So far the morning was going well. You had left the house that morning briefly together to get a few food items from town; he had run low on a few things after the night before and had insufficient ingredients for a hearty breakfast. Then upon your return home Alastor had prepared a nice brunch for both of you; which was delicious as always.

Now after eating, you were both feeling full and satisfied. Sitting in his backyard on his patio swing and enjoying some late-morning coffee while he read off the morning newspaper.

"So scary to think that someone could up and kill a person like that..." you then added. Staring off at the nearby trees, you repressed a shudder when you envisioned the gruesome scenes.
