Around 4 years after Faust's birth, Klaris' mystery sickness got so severe she was forced out of the Depths by her fellow divers, and more importantly, Kevin. Despite how strong she was, she was completely bed-ridden, constantly vomiting up a shadowy substance.
In the winter of 1415, as Kevin went to Etris to check in on her, he and Faust discovered her grim fate: Her body was slumped over in the bed, the shadowy substance pouring out of her eyeholes and mouth.
Kevin sent Faust out as he checked for a pulse nervously; But it was too late. She was dead.

Down in the Depths, she woke up to feeling.... Completely fine. As she stumbled up, she spotted a red-haired Canor child near her. "Hey, you--"
As the child turned toward her, her eyes widened. The child's right eye was bright red, while the left one was pitch black, almost demonic - Exactly like Pakki's was after he became a deepwoken.
Klaris glared at him for a moment. "You're..."
Out of the corner of his eye, the child saw a gigamed approaching them, and without missing a beat, turned around, holding his palm out and firing a constant stream of flames from it, completely incinerating the gigamed.
Klaris narrowed her eyes. "No.. He's different. But something's definitely up with this kid..."
She took a deep breath. "Stay close to me. I'll take you out."
Following her into the lost city of Celtor, the child remained silent as he was escorted back onto the surface through the trial.

As the two approached the palace in Etris, now on the surface, Colt met them, freezing up as he saw them.
Klaris looked at the small Canor. "...I don't know either."
Colt rushed over to them, hugging onto the child. "Klaris-- how..?"
Klaris looked at the two of them. "I told you. I don't know. He grabbed me down there- Before he died. And now the sickness is gone... It's not him."
Colt closed his eyes, holding onto the child. "I know. But still it... It feels like him."
Just then, the child finally spoke up. "Klaris? ...Why is his lighter than yours?"
Klaris and Colt both looked at him, surprised. "What.... are you talking about?..." Colt asked.
"The white... greyish thing inside you both. And... Why is mine black?" The child asked.

Following this, Colt decided to take the child in, naming him Patrick Jaeger, the Second.
Patrick's only real friend growing up was Faust, as all other people he met were much older than him. Ironically, both of them were born in the Depths, named after people who, though born outside it, lived most of their lives in the Depths.
Thanks to Colt's politics, Pakki got to meet a lot of travellers, learning about the world.
As he learned of the world's nature, he slowly began to aspire to be a fighter - like his ancestor. Colt started him on this journey, gifting him Gwen's Katana to use as a weapon.

One day, while a traveller was talking to Colt, showing him several pictures, Pakki spoke up. "What's your job?... Why do you have so many of them?"
"You're a little nosy, huh? Well, I'm an artist. I make these for a living." The traveller responded.
"'Art'..?" Pakki asked.
"Anything that's... Pretty. Something that has a message. Stories, paintings, stuff like that..." Colt added, before sighing. "Fine. I'll take them."
"Why?"  Pakki asked.
Colt payed for the pictures and waved the traveller goodbye as he responded. "Because today's the anniversary of my crowning..."
As Pakki looked at him strange, Colt continued. "It means exactly four years have passed since I became king."
On that same day, several Flamecharmers shot bright and colorful flames into the sky which then exploded there, almost as if they were fireworks as Colt made a huge feast.
"Enjoy the food and drinks! This here, proves our continued path forward!" Colt yelled out as the crowd cheered him on.
Pakki and Faust sat on a few rocks, somewhat away from the party.
As Pakki looked up at the blasts in the sky he wondered out loud: "Are explosions... ...Art?"
Faust shrugged. "I don't know. But they're using Flamecharm. You can do that too, right?"
Pakki nodded. "I want to do cool stuff like that... If explosions are art... Then I want to be an artist, too!"

Colt walked Kevin back to the palace. "Yeah, well, I decided to treat myself a little since it's the anniversary. Those paintings are great... Just wait until you see them--" Colt said as he opened the door - only to hear a loud bang.
He was met with the sight of Pakki flailing Gwen's katana around, which was on fire, practicing on the paintings.
Kevin burst out laughing. As Colt looked on, almost dead inside. "...nevermind...."
Pakki looked at the two of them. "I figured out how they do it! Watch this..." He said, as the flaming blade began to glow. In the split second that the glow intensified, Faust jumped in front of Kevin and Colt, creating a massive barrier of bones between them and Pakki.
What followed was a massive blast, leaving scorch marks on the bones and the room they were in utterly destroyed - But not a scratch on Pakki and the blade.
Pakki looked at them. "Huh?..."
Faust let the bones melt, going back over to Pakki.
Kevin looked at Faust. "How'd you know it was gonna explode?"
Faust shrugged. "Just a gut feeling..."
Colt looked at Pakki. "...How the hell did you..."
Pakki smiled. "I call it Blastdance! Instead of letting the flames burn, you instantly burst them all down and push them away from yourself so you don't get hurt."
The crowd pushed it's way into the palace from the commotion, looking over Colt's shoulder, gasping in surprise.
Colt quickly turned around. "It's nothing to be worried about! I have it under control... Just go back to the party, okay?"
Despite facing the crowd, Colt looked at Pakki. "What the hell is he capable of..?! He's what.. Five? And he developed a new style of Flamecharm..." He thought to himself.
