Earlier that evening.....

-------------------------------

Maoyu ran all the way home, not noticing how much faster she was running or the fact that she hadn't even broken a sweat.

When she got inside, she slammed the door shut behind her and kicked off her shoes.

"Issei? Maoyu?" her mother called from the kitchen. "Is that you?"

Maoyu closed her eyes and took deep breaths.

The last thing she wanted to do was worry her mom anymore.

"It's me, Mom." she finally spoke tiredly.

She put her umbrella in the closet and put on her slippers. Then she drug herself down the hall toward the stairs.

"Maoyu." Mrs. Hyoudou smiled when she saw her youngest child. "Where's your brother?"

"With his friends." Maoyu replied. "I'm going to wash up."

Before she could ask anymore questions, she quickly went up the stairs.

When she got to her room, she winced as she closed the door a little too hard. She sighed as she threw her bag on her bed and leaned against the door. She slid down to the floor and stared up at the ceiling.

Unable to settle her mind, she hit the floor in frustration.

All she wanted was peace, but she couldn't seem to find it. Not since she woke up.

From the moment she first awakened, she's felt agitated. All day, she had been in pain and irritated by everything. By the time she encountered the "devils", she had been vexed to the point of anger and her soul began to burn in rage.

And her little chat with Rias didn't help.

Right now, she could still feel the rage boiling inside her. It wanted to be free and lash out, but was being suppressed. That's why she has been growing more annoyed by the second.

Maoyu ran a hand through her hair.

She hated emotions.

With a loud sigh, she got back on her feet and searched of some nightclothes. Satisfied with some shorts and t-shirt, she found a towel and made her way to the hallway bathroom.

After entering the entrance room, she closed the door and started to undress herself.

She made a stop at the toilet before starting her shower in the wetroom.

Taking a seat on the small wooden stool, she turned on the water and grabbed the bucket beside her. After filling it with water, she dumped it over her head, pouring water all over herself. She then grabbed the soap and brush, and began washing herself.

She scrubbed herself until she felt clean before dumping another bucket of water on herself. Next, she shampooed her hair, feeling herself relax as she cleaned her scalp. Once she was done, she rinsed her hair and applied the conditioner. After conditioning her hair, she rinsed it out and scrubbed her body again.

She softly hummed to herself as she took her time pampering herself.

Usually, she wasn't so patient with herself, but she desperately needed something to take her mind off of the events today. Anything to ease her stress.

After finishing her shower, she heated up the bath and soaked in the water.

She felt her tense muscles relaxed and she closed her eyes. She slowly tuned the world out and focused on the darkness of her mind. For some reason, she felt comforted by the seeming abyss -- the silence of it.
