"I'm so proud of you, Issei!" Akeno smiled at the boy as his sacred gear disappeared from his hand.
"You are?" Issei rubbed the back of his head with a slight blush. "Thanks!"
Rias smiled as well, nodding her head.
After school, she had called everyone to the clubroom.
She wanted to put her peerage and at the same time, celebrate her newest member for his accomplishment.
Additionally, there was something else she needed to address.
She glanced at Maoyu who was standing in the corner, eyes closed with her arms crossed and back against the wall.
"However..." Rias spoke, getting everyone's attention. "This does put me in a strange position."
She looked at Issei with serious eyes.
"The Fallen Angels know....not only are you still alive, but you've been reborn as one of us; which is bound to make things more complicated around here."
"Yeah..." Issei looked down. "And I'm so sorry about that, but-"
"I know it was just an accident that you ran into her." Rias cut him off. "But remember...don't carried away now that you've unlocked the Sacred Gear and try to fight them alone. That's disrespectful to the rest of us."
Her eyes landed on Maoyu as she said this.
Of course, Maoyu felt her stare and ignored her indirect chide.
"I understand." Issei sighed and looked down. "Thank you."
The everyone else remained silent, having already been briefed about the attack the night before.
"I'm tired." he suddenly said, turning to leave. "I'm going to go home."
They watched as he left out the door with Maoyu right behind him.
"Exaggeration much?" Akeno said after the door closed.
Rias brows furrowed and she looked at her Queen.
"He's still new. Why do you have to scare him?" she complained.
"I'm not trying to scare him." Rias defended herself. "I just don't want him to overestimate himself."
Akeno gave her a look.
Rias looked away and stared at the door.
Of course she knew what that look meant.
They both knew why it happened and what triggered its activation.
She could see how it came across as unfair.
However, she felt he needed to hear that.
All he has been hearing lately is how great and feared his sacred gear was. He needed to understand the dangers it presents as well, to him and to those around him.
"Plus..." she narrowed her eyes and bit her thumb. "I will not let any of those angel rejects take my new favorite servant from me."
Akeno raised an eyebrow while others looked at the door.
It seemed like things were starting to get interesting in Kuoh.
And they were ready for it.
