[ LAN XICHEN'S POV ] - Again without I statements :'>

Bold + Italic Words: Words of 'Li-Yun'

The cool evening air left a tingly feeling on his skin as he continued his stroll at the Misty Lotus Lake. To a passerby, he looked like a peaceful Lan disciple who was just admiring the calming aura and tranquility of the lake. But deep inside, sorrow tore pieces of his now heavy heart out, as jagged pieces of woven memories with his lover shattered and fell apart.

A-Huan! A-Huan! look at that flower! Haha! Isn't it pretty? It matches your eyes! Such a beautiful color...

Li-Yun... Why would you do this Li-Yun?....

Without realizing it, a tear slowly fell from his left eye.

A-Huan I bought matching pendants for us! Keep it safe for me would you?...

Why would you make those memories with me if you were going to leave me for someone else anyway...

Another tear, slowly fell from his face and onto the jade pendant that had been given to him.

You told me that you would... be there for me...

Streams of tears started falling from both eyes uncontrollably. His hands shook and trembled. Could he ever love again when he was this afraid?

Lan-Huan. I already told you. I have feelings for Zi-Yin. I've only ever considered you as a brother. And now... I guess I no longer have a brother. It's time we parted ways.

Eyes swollen, and vision blurry, he stumbled forward. But instead of the usual solid ground that was decorated with purple bellflowers, Angel's Trumpets, and lillies, his foot slipped deeper into the chilly waters of the Misty Lotus Lake.

Deep in his thoughts, Lan Xichen didn't react fast enough; plunging straight into the Lake with a SPLASH

......

Ah- He was drowning.

Maybe it was better this way. He was losing consciousness anyway.

This is for the better...

It has to be...

[ JIANG CHENG'S POV ]

This was...

a human.

Jiang Cheng didn't know what to do. Humans rarely visited the Lake. And even if they did, it would mostly be for fishing. They never actually got in the water. Therefore, that covered the reason of why their clan didn't have rules about humans- there was no reason to interact with them. Though His mother did seem to have some grudge against humans... for some reason.

His attention snaps back to the human. He was running out of time. If he didn't help the human quick, he would die from lack of air for sure. Jiang Cheng frowned. This was just a human though. There was no actual reason to help it. He turned around, intending to swim back.

However, something tugged deep in his heart. The more he tried to swim away, the more his heart throbbed.

He sighed in frustration.

With a face of newfound determination, Jiang Cheng swims back to the human and wraps his hands around the human to hold him. Then he swims towards the row of coral houses that he saw earlier. Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang yell after him, but Jiang Cheng ignored them and swam faster.

Coral house after coral house, Jiang Cheng searched desperately for somewhere to temporarily keep the human. As he swims around the last rows of coral houses, his eyes catch a small cave on the far side of one of the houses. It wasn't a particularly big cave. In fact, it was considered small. But Jiang Cheng had no time, and so he decided that it was enough for now.

He swims inside the cave, and places the human on a rock ledge that he found. Next, he swims outside and grabs some seaweed. He swims back inside, and decides on wrapping the seaweed around the wrist of the human.

Now, he just needed to wait.

While he was waiting for the human to wake up, Jiang Cheng found himself studying the human. Although they've been underwater, he could tell that the human had been crying. The human had slightly swollen eyes, sharp facial features, faded lips that had a light pink tint, and pale snow white skin.

Those lips...

There was something alluring about them...

Jiang Cheng slapped his face and scowled. He never thought that about anyone else. What was he even thinking? How could he think such thoughts? Was he a fool?

While Jiang Cheng was busy scolding himself for thinking such rouge thoughts, the human started coughing up water. Which got Jiang Cheng's attention. Slowly, the human opened its eyes. At first it blinked.

It blinked again.

Then it turned around.

And saw Jiang Cheng staring nervously at it.

Small Clarification from the Author:

1)The cave that Jiang Cheng used is supposed to have something similar to an underwater cave that had air in it?... I don't know if that makes sense I apologize I don't know how else to describe it-

2) The seaweed wasn't so that Lan Xichen could breathe, it was so that it could help with the process of waking Lan Xichen up/ Helping him wake up from drowning.
