[ JIANG CHENG'S POV]

That morning, Jiang Cheng woke up feeling more annoyed and grumpy than usual. First, he failed to make his bed within 3 tries. Next, he mistakes his mirror for a door. Then, he forgets his homework on the dining table. Not to mention he nearly stabbed a terrified-looking fish with a fork. 

Training was no better. He met up with Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang as usual, but Jiang Cheng seemed to be there only physically. His eyes had their usual ominous stare, but they also had a hint of longing this time. When he was asked to spar with another disciple, Jiang Cheng nodded, but then proceeded to zone out every once in a while. To the point where he was scolded and made to sit out, since he couldn't focus well.

Wei Wuxian, Nie Huaisang, and along with many disciples gave him worried glances but could do nothing as they had their own sparing matches to worry about.

Jiang Cheng sat on the sea floor as he mentally scolds himself.

Jiang Cheng get it together! Not only have you let your mother down, but you've also been asked to sit out of class. ... maybe this is why mother despises humans... they seem to bring bad luck indeed. 

... Though I'm not going to lie, they aren't all that bad looking. That one had a nice face.

HUHHHHHHHHHH?

Jiang Cheng furiously slaps himself in the face a few times, earning him some more concerned looks.

Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang gave each other the 'we-are-going-to-have-a-talk-with-Jiang Cheng/Xiong-even-if-it-means-we'll-lose-our-tails-forever.'

"Jiang-Xiong! Are you... there?" Nie Huaisang gulps.

"Wha?-"

Wei Wuxian floats on the side, his eyes were looking at Jiang Cheng in a way that made him feel like he had just been exposed of killing someone. He says nothing.

Jiang Cheng just shrugged. "Nothing much... really... I think?.... Eh..."

Wei Wuxian exhaled. "If you say so. Anyways, Jiang Cheng I'm going uh seashell hunting so tell mom why I'm gone okay?"

Jiang Cheng didn't even get to respond before Wei Wuxian swam off.

"Aren't seashells only found in the sea? Isn't this a lake though?" Nie Huaisang asks thoughtfully.

Jiang Cheng just rolled his eyes.

"Make that two people who are going to 'hunt seashells'."

"..."

Jiang Cheng had a feeling that Wei Wuxian was hiding something from him. In fact, he's been suspicious for quite a while now, but didn't do anything because he didn't know how to confront Wei Wuxian on the matter. However, lately Jiang Cheng has noticed a significant change in Wei Wuxian. Changes included from talking/joking less, to wandering off for hours under the excuse of losing something or saying that he was studying a fish. That was an obvious lie. Wei Wuxian never studies.

*mental Jiang Cheng facepalm*

So this time, he has decided to follow Wei Wuxian. To see if he had any other intentions.
