After the unexpected arrival of Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji, they swam around for a while, trying to find one of the underwater caves (like the one Jiang Cheng took Lan Xichen to). After settling into one, Jiang Cheng frowned.
. . .
"You have 1 minute."
"Your timer starts now."
Jiang Cheng stared intently as Lan Xichen sighed.
"We... had to leave home for a few days. Things are complicated."
Jiang Cheng's frown deepened. Wei Wuxian's face suddenly broke into a grin. "But Lan Zhan is here! Lan Zhan can stay with me now! Lan Zhan you won't leave me again will you?" Lan Xichen smiled faintly. "Do not fret Young Master Wei. Wangji is not going anywhere." Wei Wuxian grinned, and lifted his head to give a small peck on Lan Wangji's cheek, earning himself a very flustered Lan Wangji.
Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes.
There they go again
Wei Wuxian didn't you say that you were into girls and not men?
What happened to that?
Cut Sleeves...
HAh!
Jiang Cheng subconsciously smiled, not seeing Lan Xichen looking at him. His eyes held a sort of wistfull gleam in them, but Jiang Cheng was oblivious to it.
He cleared his throat to gain his attention back from Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. "So... Care to explain why you two are no longer human?" Lan Wangji said nothing, but Lan Xichen smiled a bit. "We found an old document containing a journal of someone who had apparently come in contact with a human. In that journal, the human described how he had successfully made a talisman that could temporarily turn someone into a merman. The talisman Wangji and I created used has been set to a total of three days."
During this whole conversation, Wei Wuxian had been staring carefully at Lan Xichen. Then he gave a nervous laugh. Jiang Cheng glared at Wei Wuxian. "How very careful of you." Wei Wuxian gulped and quickly moved behind Lan Wangji. "I thought I was careful Cheng Cheng.." He said with a sniff. "Useless." Jiang Cheng spat.
Lan Xichen blinked in confusion. "Wanyin what do you mean by 'usele-" Out of nowhere, Wei Wuxian started coughing and choking. Lan Wangji looked at him with worry. "Wei Ying what happened?" Wei Wuxian held up a finger to signal a moment of silence, before lifting his head to reveal a cheeky grin. "Cheng Cheng since when was Lan Xichen allowed to call you that?" Lan Wangji sighed.
Jiang Cheng scowled. "Not the time." Lan Xichen chuckled. "Alright. But may I know why?-" Wei Wuxian waved his hand lazily. "About that... Lan Xichen-" He gave another nervous laugh. "It seems you've found the book I left behind."
Lan Wangji who was surprised, turned his head toward Wei Wuxian. "Wei Ying?..." Lan Xichen blinked. "So you..." "Yes." They all turned to look at Jiang Cheng. "Yes he wrote that book. It was also his idea to hide the book since no one had ever seen a merman besides him. Apparently, you found it."
Lan Xichen blinked again.
"So that means..."
Lan Wangji exhaled slowly.
Wei Wuxian had an odd smile. One that had a hint of nervousness.
"Yes, I was once a human, and yes I am now a merman."
Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes. Dramatic as always- His gaze fell on the water that had visibly retracted by a good tail length.
Wait-
The cave entrance?
Jiang Cheng inhaled sharply.
He very gently* tapped Wei Wuxian's shoulder, earning himself a glare. "What?" Wei Wuxian annoyedly asked. Jiang Chen wanted to roll his eyes, but it was only a matter of time-
"It's low tide." Wei Wuxian froze. "Already?-" "Yes already!" Jiang Cheng snapped as he abruptly started moving back towards the water. "Hurry up we need to go or she'll break our tails again!" Lan Xichen opened his mouth and was about to speak when another voice, one that held much ferocity and command spoke up. "There is no need to break your tails later when I will break them right now!" Lan Xichen froze. During one of their secret meetings, Jiang Cheng had told him about his family. There was his dad, his sister, his brother... and....
Ah- is it time to meet her already?-
He slowly turned around to see a tall thin women with glaring purple eyes. There was no warmth in those eyes, but cold, thunderous winds instead.
He turned the other direction to see Jiang Cheng as still as a statue.
"Well? Has fooling around made you a disappointment??"
Jiang cheng gulped. He visibly paled.
