[ not really anyone's pov- ]
Madam Yu was glaring hard at Lan Xichen. "You look... familiar." She snapped. Lan Xichen gulped. When he and Lan Wangji had performed the spell that temporarily turned them into mermen, their chosen color scheme was based on their current clothes. As they had stayed in their Gusu Lan clothing, their merman designs now resembled the Gusu Lan Clan if anyone looked close enough.
He had to choose his words wisely.
Before he could speak, however, Wei Wuxian swam forward and bowed. "Madam Yu, Jiang Cheng and I were merely training when we... found some rouge cultivators." Lan Wangji stared at Wei Wuxian. "They were quite strong strength-wise and Jiang Cheng and I merely wanted to spar with them when we realized it was far past low tide. Please forgive this disciple's insolence." He bowed deeply to Madam Yu. Jiang Cheng stiffened.
Why should he bow? We were just talkin to some friends. Yet even this angers Mother...
Madam Yu glared at Wei Wuxian for some time before turning her attention to Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji. "So, some strong rouge cultivators eh? We'll see soon enough whether you're actually strong, or whether my son and that son of a servant is just weak!"
At this, Lan Wangji clenched his fists tightly. He was visibly angered, and his eyes held much rage to them. Lan Xichen too, was quite annoyed at this comment. Nevertheless, he forced a smile and replied, "Oh no Madam Yu, you're sons have quite the talent. It's rare to find mermen so talented these days."
Madam Yu snorted before facing Jiang Cheng. "We're going back. You better start catching up on your missed training. Forget the son of the servant! I expected better from you, Jiang Cheng!" Lan Wangji's fist tightened so much, that Lan Xichen with a look of alarm, noticed that blood had started dripping from his hand, and was staining the clear blue lake- red.
Quickly, he bowed the Madam Yu and said, "Madam Yu, would it.. be possible if we stay with your sect for three days? We'll be gone after that. It's just.. we.. never.... really seen this place before." Madam Yu frowned and stared at Lan Xichen for a long moment, making Lan Xichen nervous.
After what seemed like eternity, she scoffed, "Very well. I shall grant you three days of stay. Uh...." She stared quizzically. "Xichen and Wangji." Lan Xichen quickly replied. Madam Yu nodded and her face changed back into a frown. "Well?" She raised her voice, glaring at Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian. "Did I say stand there and look dumb?! I said go back to training!" Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian each sent worried looks to their...rouge cultivator friends, before swimming off.
Madam Yu turned back to Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji. "Jiang Yeila and Jiang Qizun will be taking you to your room. The Jiang Sect rules will be delivered to you shortly." Lan Xichen nodded, and hurriedly motioned for Lan Wangji to follow him, eager to leave the presence of the clearly irritated Sect Madam.

Lan Xichen sighed as he stared at the ceiling. It had been a good 3 hours since he'd been shown to his room. Lan Wangji said nothing the entire time, which was usual. Lan Xichen however, couldn't help but feel a sense of longing.
( For Jiang Cheng of course, who else would it be? )
He sat up from the bed and looked towards the window. He'd been hoping to talk to Jiang Cheng again, but ever since he and Wei Wuxian had been ordered to train, Lan Xichen hadn't gotten the chance to see him, much less talk to him. He was ready to go see how his brother was doing when a knock sounded at his door. He tensed a little, but quickly relaxed as he got up and moved to open the door.
