The next morning was confusing, not only for the Ninja but for Lydia as well. She wasn't really expecting to wake up in a comfy futon on a flying boat. Not exactly her typical day.
Usually, she would fall asleep in some alleyway with cardboard as her blanket but this was a whole new experience for her. She hasn't slept that well since she had her own room in Darkley's!
She fell asleep pretty quickly when her uncle read her a story, she felt like she was being treated like a baby. Hadn't she already proved to them that she wasn't a child? She let out three serpentines! Beat that!
However, that shouldn't be something she should be proud of considering the fact that all three betrayed her in every way.
Hypnobrais kicked her out. Fangpyres wanted to kill her. The Anacondrai betrayed her trust and made her think they were friends.
What person, or rather thing, would be in the right state of mind to hurt someone like that? Lull them into a false sense of security and then push them off of a goddamn roof? Now that's a low blow.
Once Lydia got over the shock of what Pythor did, it left her angry, way angrier than before. After all, Pythor said that he was going to be her friend! She didn't even call him out for touching her late at night.
As much as she wanted to, she felt too embarrassed to even talk about it with her uncle. At first, she thought it was normal, but when she didn't see any of the Ninja do it to each other, it got her wondering.
Wondering if it was really okay what Pythor did because no one else did that. Was it a thing that only adults did? If so, it made Lydia feel nervous.
She didn't want to be afraid but she couldn't help herself, she started to think that he would do it again but somewhere else and she didn't like that thought.
"Lydia, I have a task for you." A voice came up from behind her and she couldn't help but jump, she didn't hear anyone coming up. Guess that's what it meant to be a ninja.
The girl turned around to look at her uncle, standing with his arms behind his back. Lydia nodded slowly and stepped away from the railing she was leaning against.
"Okay... What?" She still wasn't used to getting attention from her uncle or in fact even speaking to him, she thought he hated her for being such a brat.
Lydia wasn't unaware that she was being horrible, it was kind of the whole point but what she found surprising was how kind Wu was treating her even after she released all those snakes.
It was almost like a second chance was being handed to her by the gods and she didn't want to leave it. Lydia was going to make it up to her uncle, just not the Ninja since she still hated their guts for humiliating her.
Wu smiled at her compliance for a small moment before he carried on with what he wanted to say. "I need you to pull pranks on the boys and blame it on each other, this will be a lesson for them."
Pull what? Was Wu seriously asking the pranking queen to prank the Ninja? Without even a second to think, Lydia agreed in a heartbeat.
"Yes! Yes! On it!" Lydia screamed in excitement but instantly quieted herself down when she realized that this was supposed to be a secret mission.
The girl basically jumped down from the deck to get down to the basement, Kai was going to be her first victim.
Wu stood by the railing as he watched the little girl climb down the ladder, he could tell something was wrong with her since the day before. Lydia crying was something on its own, it was new and it should never have been exposed at such a young age.
