It had been a long week since the Great Devourer had been defeated. A long week of no sign of Garmadon ever since he disappeared. However, despite not knowing what Garmadon was up to, the Ninja were able to clean up the city as much as they could. They were glad that the snake only managed to mess up one part of the city as it made it easy to clean everything.
The sun was setting as Cole, Jay, and Zane worked on fixing an electric pole. Sparks flew as they toiled, but their progress was slow. Kai, standing nearby when he was supposed to be helping, was growing increasingly frustrated.
"This is so frustrating!" Kai yelled. He flicked his hand, but only a few sparks of flame came out. "I can't even use my power properly! The weapons are gone, and our elemental powers don't even work! I feel... limited."
Cole, focused on the task at hand, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's tough. But we have to keep going."
"Thanks to the Devourer, our tank is out of commission, our dragon is hurt, the Bounty is destroyed, and we have nowhere to sleep." Kai continued and ignored the look he got from Cole when he blew him off.
Zane put down the blow torch and lifted his welding mask, his eyes calm and steady. "No one ever said being a hero is easy. Though our good deeds may never make us rich, they make us rich in other ways."
Kai scoffed, shaking his head. "Yeah, well I don't feel rich."
Jay, always trying to lighten the mood, spoke up. "Well, I for one, like pitching in. I've always wanted to be part of a community." Then, as if remembering something, he added, "Speaking of which, has anyone seen Nya? She said she'd help."
Just then, the roar of a motorbike echoed through the street. Nya arrived, with Wu sitting on an added seat. She dismounted gracefully and approached them with a hopeful smile.
"And I have," Nya said, her eyes shining with excitement. "I may have found us a place to live." She was holding a pamphlet before handing it to the blue ninja.
He took the booklet out of her hands and read the name. However, he was too excited to even finish reading the title. "Really?!" His smile grew but then realize something. "But there's a waiting list a mile long to live in Ninjago City... How did you do that?"
The girl smiled proudly as she sat back down on her motorbike, clipping on her helmet. "I know a guy, who knows a girl, and she knows this girl who knows a guy. Well this guy knows a girl who's a real estate agent and she can help you find a place, if you catch my drift!" Nya said as if it wasn't confusing enough.
Cole takes the pamphlet out of Jay's hand so that the other three could read it. "And where are you off to?" Jay asked Nya even though he was watching Wu drink his tea in the small seat attached to her bike.
"We have to find a couple of components to fix the Ninja tank. And my dragon ointment has finally arrived," the old man tried to hide his excitement. "It's a day's trip, but once we get back, he'll be flying again. Also I love scenic routes! Haha punch it, Nya!"
Nya gave one final look to Jay before she revved the bike. "Ay, ay!"
The lightning boy turns around to face the other Ninjas who were currently invested in the booklet that they were handed. "Hmm, Patty Keys, Real Estate Queen. This is exactly what we need! Once we get a roof over our heads, we can properly train Lydia!"
"Good, 'cause if we know Lord Garmadon, he's not going to be taking any breaks. And let's not forget, the Serpentine are still at large."
___
Near the remains of Destiny's Bounty, the Serpentine were hidden in a dark cave. Skales stood before the gathered serpents, trying to assert his authority and claim his title as king.
