Hours later, their buggy arrived at civilisation. During the trip back, Padme's head lay on Poe's lap as the pilot discussed passage back to the resistance with Naka who, feeling indebted to the rebels after they saved him from the raiders, promised him passage with one of his scavenger friends who was headed to D'Quar as well.
Padme shifted in his lap as the buggy stopped pulled herself up, blinking blearily as she came out of the fainting spell.
"Morning, Princess." Poe said with a grin as she rolled her eyes at him. "I managed to get us a way home."
Padme looked at him with confusion.
"Back to D-Quar?" She asked and Poe nodded at the smile that graced her face at that. The rebel girl still looked somewhat exhausted but the hope on her face lit up her features in a way Poe found himself incredibly fond of.
"But hurry up." Naka stated as he opened the back of the buggy to let the two out. "They're leaving in a few minutes."
"Thank you, Naka." Padme said as she stepped out of the buggy with Poe following after her.
"The resistance thanks you." Poe said but Naka waved him off.
"Yeah yeah whatever." The scavenger said. "Resistance, First Order, I don't care about any of that. Thank you for saving my wares from those kriffing raiders."
"Anytime." Poe said with a grin before Naka waved him off once more, pointing at a ship.
"Go there, they're waiting for you."
Bidding goodbye to the scavenger, Poe and Padme made their way to the ship and Poe couldn't help but glance at the girl who he had survived all of this with. She had such a clear, hopeful expression on her face at the idea of going home and he realised why so many people followed her without question.
With hope like hers, he would follow her anywhere.

"Now I'm sure you're all used to the pretty, clean cabins of the resistance but you're not going to get that here."
Poe nodded, trying not to laugh at the scavenger/pilot that was taking them back to D'Quar. He was a stout man who had a face which resembled a walnut when he glared up at them. Even Padme, who wasn't tall by any means, towered above the man who seemed to refuse to take a battered purple helmet off of his head.
"MIRI!." The scavenger, whose name was Talun Adir, called for his wife. "Show these people to their room, you're gonna have to make dow with one bed since this 'aint no palace."
"That'll be just fine, Sir." Poe said as Talun's wife, Miri, gestured for them to follow her. "Bet she can't wait to get into bed with me."
At that, Padme jabbed him in the ribs and followed Miri down the hall, Poe following along quickly as he clutched his side.
"We'll be there in a few hours, I suggest you guys get some sleep." Miri said as she pressed a button which opened a clearly rusted door which revealed a bunk which could fit the both of them with a bathroom door on the far side of the small room. "Trust me, you don't want to hang around Talun when he's flying."
At that, Miri closed their door and they could hear her steps down the hall.
"You take the bed." Padme said, letting her hair down from the pony tail she had put it in earlier and letting her brown hair fall down her back. "I'll go on that bench.'
