"Is she in there?"
"The Admiral has banned you from the bridge-" A mechanic attempted to explain but Poe simply pushed past her.
"HOLDO!"
It had been days since Padme and Leia had become incapacitated and Admiral Holdo became the leader of the resistance in their absence.
Poe had practically refused to leave Padme's side for hours, not even the droids could drag him out. It was frightening to the rest of the resistance to see their cocky pilot completely shattered by the General's current state but what was even more frightening to Poe was how utterly terrified he was.
He could count the amount of times he had ever been truly afraid on one hand and none of them could amount up to how he felt sitting at Padme's bed side with her limp hand in his, think she might never wake up.
The idea was horrifying to him. He had never been this close to anyone since his mother had died. And he had lost her too. It was as though everything he touched was sure to die.
But this won't happen to her, Poe had thought to himself, pressing her knuckles against his lips as if in an attempt to breath life back into them, I won't let it.
If he lost Padme... he didn't know what he'd do with himself.
After helping Finn, Rose and BB-8 escape so they would be able to somehow disable the tracker device which had been the resistance's downfall so many days earlier when the First Order was able to track them through Light Speed.
Other than spending practically every moment he could at Padme's bedside, begging her to wake up and wake himself up from this nightmare, he was disobeying the Admirals orders. Just like right now as he entered the bridge he was most definitely no longer allowed on.
"Flyboy." The Admiral greeted, a bored look on her face.
"Cut it, lady, only Padme calls me that." He yelled, striding over. "We had a fleet, now we're down to one ship and you've told us nothing! Tell us that we have a plan! That there's hope!"
"When I served under Leia and Padme, Leia would say 'hope is like the sun, if you only believe in it when you see it..."
"...You'll never make it through the night, I know I know, Padme said it too." Poe said dejectedly.
"Yes." Admiral Holdo said calmly and Poe sighed before his eyes caught on a screen where a mechanic was working.
"Are you fuelling up the transports?" He asked, the fury he had felt early returning as he turned back to Holdo but when he was met with only a blank stare, he rushed towards the screen he had just been looking at and checked it for himself. "You are. All of them? We're abandoning ship? Is that... is that what you've got? That's what you brought us to?"
In his rage, Poe kicked the chair beside him.
"Coward!" He yelled and two guards rushed forward to stop him but Holdo stopped them instead as Poe continued to yell at anyone who was listening. "Those transport ships are unarmed, unshielded! We abandon cruiser, we're done, don't stand a chance! No, you're not just a coward, you are a traitor!"
Holdo merely stared at the man who pointed his finger in her face, a hard look in her eyes.
"Get this man off my bridge."
