I glance around my dark room quietly, reaching for the bottom on the pale windowsill.
The window groans as I pull it open, causing me to sigh. The cool air reaches out to me, beckoning me outside into the darkness.
I sit myself on the wobbly frame, pushing my jean clad legs out the window before lowering myself on to the ground.
I am so happy I convinced my mother to give me a room on the first floor, so far it has only come in handy.
I lift my head up to the stars, taking in a deep breath of the night air. I do have to admit, no matter how much I hate this sketchy small town, it is absolutely beautiful at night.
I then move my focus to the moon, its rounded ovular shape staring back at me. It seems to be full tonight, standing out against the blackened sky. I wonder how often this happens, I could never see it from where I used to live.
I focus my eyes ahead of me again, scanning my surroundings. I see a small forest off the side of the house and decide that is a better place to go for a walk than any.
I smile to myself walking down the small dirt path. I can hear the chirps of the crickets in the long grass and I subconsciously try to avoid them, I wouldn't want to hurt them in any way.
A rustling in the bushes causes my head to snap to the left. A large, white wolf glares at me with yellow eyes.
"Nice wolf, nice wolfy." I whisper, stepping backwards. The wolf snarls, showing me his jagged teeth.
"Shit, shit, shit." I say, as I back myself into a firm oak tree.
The wolf raises its head in the air, letting out an ear splitting howl. I whimper quietly as he lunges at me, his teeth going straight for the bare skin of my ankle.
I suck in a deep breath, closing my eyes and waiting for the sharp pain to stick into my ankle.
The wolf barrels at me, taking me easily down to the ground. His claws rip easily through my thin blue sweater, exposing my shoulder to the night.
He a growl resonates low in his throat as he bares his teeth. His head goes to bite the flesh of my shoulder.
I let out a scream as his sharpened canine teeth sink into my shoulder.
A rustling in the bushes causes my heart to drop, I am a goner. Of all the ways I ever thought I would die, dog chow was definitely not on the list.
A larger wolf emerges, his black fur glistening in the moonlight. He is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen.
His bright blue eyes take in the scene in front of him before he looks at me, snarling.
I take in a deep breath as the first wolf turns, looking at the new arrival, as if telling him he had this one.
The larger wolf growls, he sounds angry for some reason. His eyes met mine, causing me to gasp.
The wolf's eyes soften as he looks at me, as if he felt sorry for me in some way.
The larger wolf then diveson the first one, snapping his teeth. I gasp, crawling away from their brawl slowly.
I try to get up, but the shooting pain in my ankle is too much to bare. I can't put any weight on it.
The fight is very loud, but unfair. The second wolf easily towers over the first one, therefore easily over powering him.
He let's out a loud bark, stamping his paw on the first dog. The smaller one whimpers, getting up and hobbling into the forest.
The larger wolf turns his head, looking me over carefully. His eyes then drop to my shoulder and a low whimper leaves his throat.
The wolf takes one tentative step towards me, causing me to take in a sharp breath.
The wolf shakes his head, walking towards me slowly. I hide my face in my hands, waiting for this wolf to attack me just like the first one did.
I feel the heat radiating off the wolf as he sniffs me. He whimpers, nuzzling his nose into my hands, as if begging me to open my eyes.
I peer at the wolf to notice he looks very sad, like my pain physically hurt him.
When I look at him he wags his tail, nuzzling his face into my stomach. "Nice wolfy." I whisper, causing him to nod, licking up my face.
"Awwe you're just an over grown puppy aren't you?" I ask, reaching out to him. Though my arm screams in ptotest, the teeth marks in my shoulder too much to bare.
The wolf whimpers, stepping closer into me. "I'm okay." I sigh, smiling sheepishly.
The wolf leans in, tentatively leaning his head on my shoulder. He then licks my wound, looking at me tentatively.
I shoot him a small smile as he leans down, licking my ankle. "Thank you." I say, leaning out to pet him.
The wolf's fur was surprisingly soft for such a wild animal. He looked to be quite well groomed and cleaned, I wasn't afraid of him at all.
The wolf sprawled himself out, laying in front of me protectively. "Can I use you as a pillow?" I ask, laughing to myself.
I must have lost a lot of blood if I think a wolf would understand me.
Though I swear I see him nod, wagging his tail as he looks at me. I smile, laying my head on the wolf's stomach.
I have no idea if I am hallucinating or not but there was one thing I do know, I need sleep, desperately.
I close my eyes, curling into the wolf for warmth, since the forest is getting cold now that it was late August.
"Good night." I whisper, leaving my safety in the hands of a "big bad" wolf.
